My partner and I have been together for 5 years, and thanks to Mayor Newsom, we finally have the chance to get married. After spending much of today dialing the number as much as we could, we finally got an appointment to get married in San Francisco. If all goes well, we will get married on Friday March 5, 2004.
I wanted to start this thread to share with the Teeming Millions, and hopefully to have others who are planning on getting married in San Fran celebrate with me!
So heres to Happy Days, and a very gay wedding on the west coast!
Congrats to you both. And wouldn’t that make one helluva credit card commercial, showing one guy in a tux getting the license and arriving at City Hall, then two guys in a tux exiting to “Finally marrying your boyfriend, Priceless!”
Hey, Mazel Tov, Jeeves! My wedding day was one of the best days of my life. Here’s hoping yours is just as great for you two!
And here’s my standard 2 bits of wedding advice:
A marriage is almost never a 50-50 proposition. Some times it’s 60-40, other times it’s 30-70. Some days it feels like it’s 80-80. Hang in there, talk it out, and you’ll make it!
When you hit those 80-80 days, remember those 3 little words that help you hang in there:
Congrats! Best wishes for a loving, lifelong marriage. I’ll be posting a votive intention for you online. Just click the link in my sig and you’ll see it, if you like.
Sincerely,
kfl and Upside_Down_Amber, Canadian lesbian Doper couple
Congratulations! / Llongyfarchiadau (Welsh for congrats)!
I’m so grateful to everyone who’s paving the way for the rest of us.
My BF and I are talking about it. Right now we live in separate countries because I can’t sponsor him for immigration. His country, Britain, would let me in, though if I end up emigrating for this reason, Sallie Mae can kiss my student loan payments goodbye!
