Just thought people would want to note that Mars is going to be closer to Earth on 8/27 than it has been for at least 60,000 years. That’s Mars the “war planet”. And with the North Koreans doing Og-knows-what with their fuel rods…well…let’s just say I’m gonna be sure & redeem my free Pepsi coupon while there’s still time.
Um…you’re into Astrology I take it?
Oh My God!!!
Mars is going to be closer to Earth!!!
WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!
Slee ::Running off screaming::
Dude, astrology, astronomy, astroturf - no matter how you slice it, ya gotta admit it’s a bit spooky how much dischord is in the air right about now. We’ve already got troops in how many countries?
Chill, Dude! Tars Tarkas, Podkayne and I have the situation under control. Relax.
How complacent can you be??? Don’t you know we’re all TOAST?!
Well, what happened 60,000 years ago? The OP seemed to think this was important.
According to the Zodiac, I’m a Pisces. On the Chinese calendar, I was born in the Year of the Tiger. Does this make me a Tiger Shark?
… somebody’s gonna bring up Nostradamus now aren’t they … :smack:
Not me, but what would a Mars thread be without mentioning Marvin?
The N. Koreans don’t have a Space Modulator, do they?
And he’s finally in range…
I guess that would make me a Cancerous Cock? Or a Crab-Cock?
Anyway…why don’t these people ever open their mouths after the fact? Oh yea…that’s why…

Only Bugs can save us now.
And if Marvin doesn’t get us, his damn dog’s constellation will be in the skies right around the same time.
Heh - combining zodiacs would make me a ramcock…
Okay, so it happens every about 60,000 years. Being rough and guesstimating the age of the two planets at 4.5 billion years, that means this exact event has already happened about 75,000 times. Big fucking deal.
Yup. I don’t see the connection to a bunch of calculations of the movement of planets. Planets are calculable, human behavior isn’t. I don’t like the North Korea thing, but I plan on enjoying the astronomical event, seeing as how the two aren’t related.
Correction to my own post…that would be the dog star, Sirius, not a constellation.
That does it, I’m a doofus. I’m going to bed.
Oh yeah? Well I’m a virgin cock.
Sirius is part of Canis major, the Big Dog constellation. So you were correct.

Have our scientists been watching the surface of mars for any inexplicable bright flashes?

Thanks, Steelerphan, I don’t feel like a complete doofus any more.
As for bed, well, I’ll get there. Eventually.
