Martin O'Malley for President thread

Bumped.

O’Malley tries to rally millennials for Hillary: Martin O'Malley

Given how closed off O’Malley’s political choices are due to Clinton probably winning and Maryland’s Senators pretty locked in for a long time, I wonder if he’s a lock to be in the administration in some role?

It seems to me that if Clinton wants to reinstate her husband’s Reinventing Government Initiative, O’Malley’s by far the best choice to head it. Although he could do a more conventional cabinet office like HUD or even HHS, or even the VA, all of which are in need of skilled managers.

I kinda wish O’Malley’s campaign had gotten more traction. I thought he looked good in the debates but he was crushed between the Clinton machine and the Bernie craze.

Barbara Mikulski has already announced that she will retire at the end of her term.

He’s still a young guy, as presidential contenders go. I’d never heard of him before this year but I hope we get another shot at voting for him down the road. A stint in congress would raise his national profile.

Okay, there ya go then.

O’Malley was my choice in the primaries, but I think Gavin Newsom will be the next democratic president, taking the reins from Hillary in 2024.

The only way Newsom is not in the middle of his second term as Governor of California in 2024 is if Dianne Feinstein retires when her term expires in 2024 (assuming she runs in 2018) and he runs for her vacated Senate seat. I have a feeling he’ll feel he would do more good in Sacramento than in Washington, the way Pete Wilson did in 1990.

Tim kaine will of course be the frontrunner, but sure, I can see a progressive challenger. Not that it will matter, since non-white voters are going to be supporting the guy that Clinton and Obama campaign for, full stop. And that’s going to be Kaine.

Would anyone care to explain this theme of Martin Omalley being a “skilled manager” because I have never seen it, and I’ve voted for the guy before. Just because you are elected governor twice does not make you a skilled manager.

There’s never a short way to explain how someone is good at their job, but here’s a good article on O’Malley’s approach:

Omalley’s handpicked successor was dismantled by a fat Republican with no political experience in a state that is 2-1 Democratic.
