If he has specific evidence that Martin was incapable of inflicting great bodily harm, then he shouldn’t have feared it.
Of course, the only ones creating this amusing paradox are Team Zimmerman and their insistence against all facts of how human biology works that he was punched more than once or had his head “slammed into the concrete.” Sure, one can conceive of a scenario where he fears that this is going to happen and is justified in using lethal self-defense. But you overplay your hand when you defend Zimmerman’s obvious lie that it did happen, because that creates the scenario where he knew, for a fact, that he was not facing a serious threat.
The prosecution witness testimony at the trial says otherwise, that he went to see his doctor the next day and was treated for it.
The state’s own witnesses say otherwise. Why do you think they are wrong? Do you not think the state would have got the witnesses who could minimise the injuries as much as possible?
The lack of serious injuries speaks directly to whether the jury believes a bloody nose and a couple bruises warrants that type of self defense. And you assume that the jury will find this as a self defense case at all… “Get off… Get off”.
I contend Fat King George tried some creepy citizen’s arrest. Trayvon asked him to “Get off” and when Zimmerman didn’t comply Trayvon rightly popped him in the nose. A struggle ensued and Zimmerman finally “hit the easy button”.
If Martin had severely atrophied muscles, I’m sure the autopsy would have detected it. In the absence of that finding, I think we can assume Martin had the same punching power anyone else with his physical characteristics would. So, how could you possibly say that Martin was incapable of inflicting great bodily harm?
So Team Zimmerman includes Dr. DiMaio and the prosecution witness, Dr. Rao? Because she testified that Zimmerman’s head could have been struck against the sidewalk twice, and that he could have suffered around four blows total.
I’m sure his head did scrape against the sidewalk during the tussle, explaining the small, shallow cuts there, and that’s what she is testifying to. Was his head “slammed against” the sidewalk multiple times? Not unless his head is made of steel or Martin’s upper body is made of Jell-o.
Ultimately, you need to decide if Martin is a crazed, lethal thug, deriving superhuman strength from marijuana and watermelon juice, or if he’s such a weakling that he pummeled Zimmerman 6 or more times yet left the same marks on him as a sparrow flying into his face would have. Which is it? (As a hint, it works way better for you to stick to Story 1, since then you can re-invoke the idea that Zimmerman was fearing a future lethal blow, rather than inadvertently proving that he knew such a blow could not be forthcoming).
No, zimmermans physician largely agreed his injuries weren’t bad. The bald cop who took him in said he didn’t need any help after the medics cleaned him up. Zimmerman never complained.
The state is supposed to give Zimmerman a fair trial, not persecute him. Theycalled all kinds of witnesses to tell their opinion.
Keep posting about how the superficial cuts and total lack of bruising or neurological damage on Zimmerman’s head were the result of Martin slamming him into the concrete as hard as he could 3 or more times, and you’ll figure it out.
Or, he could have been a normal human male, of the type 5’ 11", 158 lbs, 17 years old. Which it appears he was, in 4-6 blows he managed to break Zimmerman’s nose and blacken his eyes, and cut his head, but not cave in his skull or anything. That’s neither superhuman strength nor sparrow-esque weakness.
Condescending Robot, I dont know about you, but the overall tone here is pretty disappointing and offensive to listen to some posters who claim tm was suspicious, yet what we all kniw even from the defense is that the only thing tm was doing was walking home, after having stopped off for a can of juice and some skittles. Deeply offensive this belief that its suspicious to walk if your black…very disturbing.
So, the fact that both pathologists agree that Zimmerman’s head could have struck the cement two to four times means nothing in the face of your opinions to the contrary. That’s illuminating.
You may be imagining something overly cinematic, like Martin raising Zimmerman’s head a full sixteen inches off the sidewalk and slamming it home with every ounce of his strength and body weight.
Well, according to them, he was “looking into houses,” because Zimmerman says so, and because it’s so very common to buy a bunch of junk food at the 7-11 to carry home with you and put your phone in your other hand when you’re trying to break into a window, and furthermore, it’s irrelevant if Zimmerman was racially profiling him, and instead of having the dignity of the non-anonymous mainstream commentators to say something like “it’s unfortunate that this happened at all but Zimmerman isn’t legally culpable” we’re getting steadfast adherence to the “he did nothing wrong, he should do it again, Martin was a thug, some people need killing” line.
Well, zimmerman told detectives that he screamed for help for a long time as crazed tm beat and slammed ( Remember the m.e. who said slammed would be equivalent to great bodily injury to his head?) And I havent seen any black eyes, other than the two gz naturally has, and heard no talk of black eyes And the 4-6 blows seems to have been more like a couple.
It would be nice if that standard was actually applied to the thousands of defendants, disproportionately but not exclusively black, who get processed through the court system daily for drug offenses and other bullshit. But yes, that is how the system is supposed to work, and it’s working that way in this case because of the attention involved and because Zimmerman is able to hire attorneys outside of his normal means due to racists nationwide donating to him.
Given that this is the rare case where the system is as weighted towards the defendant as it is supposed to be, it’s curious that Team Zimmerman fails to understand that in such a system, BY DESIGN, many people who did in fact do something wrong go free, in order to preclude the possibility of an innocent person being convicted. There is no doubt in my mind that innocent people do not lie, over and over and over and over again, about the circumstances of the event, and that Zimmerman caused the entire situation with his “neighborhood watch” BS. The standard of “rational human being on the Internet applying the smell test to this cockamamie story” and “guilty beyond a reasonable doubt” are not the same, and I’ve never said they were.
No, most people who do that go home and eat it rather that wandering in the rain for ages. Like it or not, Martin’s behaviour was unusual, and Zimmerman, whilst incorrect in assuming he was a criminal, was not wrong to suspect it.
It’s unfortunate that this happened, but he did nothing wrong, and should he see suspicious people around him (as is all to likely, with people who think like you that he should be punished, but don’t have the restraint I assume you have) he should call the police again - but then, get the fuck away from them.
Martin was a thug. My cite - Zimmerman’s face. Doesn’t mean he needed killing, and it’s a damn shame the police didn’t arrive whilst he was beating Zimmerman, so he could receive the appropriate punishment, and hopefully sort himself out. That still doesn’t mean Zimmerman did anything wrong in killing him.
