I saw her play last month on TV in an exhibition match (w/ Steffi, Lindsay, and Justine) and she can still play incredibly well.

I’m sorry to hear about that, but it sounds like her chances of recovery with no more problems are very good. And yes, she can still play. She chose to retire when she turned 50, but she was still doing well in doubles and mixed doubles.
Martina was in her prime back when I was playing tennis in high school. She was one of the first women I ever saw play a serve and volley style, and she was dominant at the net. Great matches with Chris Everett-Lloyd…sorta a ladies version of McEnroe vs Borg–raw power vs steady baseline player. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
