Back in the mid- 60’s were a series of Marvel Super-Heroes cartoons shown. The most popular one was Captain America others included: The Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, etc. My question is about the Lyrics to the theme to the Sub-Mariner. I’ve got most of them, but a few words still evade me. Can anyone help? Are you listening Cecil? This is what I have so far:
"Stronger than a whale, he can swim anywhere
He can go breathe underwater and go flying through the air
And the noble Sub-Mariner, prince of the deep
…???
“Stronger than a whale, he can swim anywhere,
He can breathe underwater and go flying through the air
The Noble Sub-Mariner, Prince of the Deep
So be wary every seaman
Lord Namor of Atlantis is the Prince of the Deep”

Hulk always confused me. Did they make up words for that one?
“Doc Bruce Banner, pelted by gamma rays
Turns into the Hulk. Aint he unglamorays[?].
Crashing thru town with the power of a bull.
He’s so [???]. Isn’t he lovable?
The everlovin’ Hulk! Hulk! Hulk!”
Thanks Zev! Youre a lifesaver! Sure sounds like that to me. Curious as to your source though. Is it by just listening better than I can–or have you another source?
“Doc Bruce Banner, pelted (belted?) by gamma rays
Turns into the Hulk. Aint he unglamorays.
Crashing thru town with the power of a bull.
He’s no monster, clown. He’s just lovable.
The everlovin’ Hulk! Hulk! Hulk!”
Thays how I always heard it. But thx for the “crashing thru town” line It was another I was unclear on.
Lets see if I have Iron Man correct:
“Tony Stark, makes you feel
He’s a cool exec, with a heart of steel
And Iron Man all jets ablaze, he fights and he spites with repulsor rays
Amazing Armor, hes Iron Man, Ablazing power, he’s I-Ron Man!”
Anybody want to complete the set with The Mighty Thor and the Captain?
I always thought the Captain America song had a pretty sophisticated rhyme scheme for a kid’s show:
When Captain America throws his mighty shield,
All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield!
When he’s led to a fight, and the duel is true
Then the red and the white and the blue’ll come through
When Captain America throws his mighty shield!
Look at the internal rhymes in lines 3 and 4: led-red, fight-white, and duel-blue’ll. That’s a pretty darned clever, if trivial, bit of lyric writing.
