She did (when locking Mack in Fitz’s cell). But it seems to be getting worse each time.
Remember, they still think the future is fixed and can’t be changed, to a ludicrous extent (see Gemma’s acid test last episode.) And yet, wouldn’t they want to at least try to change it? yeah… I dunno… I got nuthin.
I think it was the opposite… Hale’s flunky was there with Talbot’s wife. I don’t know how Hale got wind of Daisy’s plan for Talbot to contact her. (Is there still a mole? Piper? or just some electronic surveillance that Daisy didn’t realize she pinged when setting up the call?) But once she did, she sent her lackey (does she have a name?) to the Talbot home to threaten Mrs. Talbot into reading the script. (I don’t think Hale would be above threatening Talbot’s son to get her to “comply”. That’s plenty of motivation.)
Well they’ve already established you can catch it in a plastic tackle box, so why not a hose? I’m guessing the spirits of the gravitonium (Hall and Quinn) were responsible for making it flow through the hose. They want a body to possess.
Yeah, Deke pining for Daisy is pretty funny and endearing. But I see no reason in hell for Daisy to ever reciprocate.
yeah, there’s no way the endgame is here yet because it hasn’t involved any choice to not save Coulson. But remember that Ruby only got 8% of the gravitonium injection. There’s still plenty to put into another subject. (Though who on earth other than Ruby would be nuts enough to get in willingly is beyond me…)
She didn’t look particularly threatened to me. “Okay, the General has escaped and may harm himself or others. When he calls, read this script which will calm him down.”
Doesn’t explain the full programming to kidnap Robin, but the wife’s script could have included a “call the base” instruction which wouldn’t have seemed odd to the Mrs., and they added the kidnap instructions later.
Talbot’s wife was sufficiently scared after the incident in the hospital with their son that I can understand her cooperating with Hale’s flunky. But I still don’t know how the flunky was there at the time the call came in. That’s the part that doesn’t make any sense.
It seems like the show is going to completely ignore Infinity War… which doesn’t seem ignorable.
I really thought this last episode would have something anticipating bigger events to come but it seemed to remain pretty self contained.
Films released coinciding with the season wrap-up of Agents of SHIELD:
[ul]
[li]Winter Soldier - This was the only major tie-in and it was handled beautifully with Hyrda’s reveal and attempted takeover of SHIELD very well set up during the T.V. show without revealing spoilers for the movie. Then, the following episode (and rest of the season) after the movie was released they dealt with the fallout from the events of the movie within the scope of the plotline for the season.[/li]*
[li]Age of Ultron - Episode before the movie: “Coulson! You MUST tell us other SHIELD leaders about this secret project that only you know about!”[/li]“No! I won’t! Because I am Phil Coulson and Nick Fury gave me a little cube and told me that I’m special!”
Episode after the movie: “See? My secret was that I was hiding a leftover old version helicarrier and I had to get it to Nick Fury so he could help battle Ultron way up in the sky!”
“We’re sorry we ever doubted you, Coulson. Even though I am Edward James Olmos I will now completely trust you no matter what secrets you may keep from me.”
*
[li]Civil War - “O.K., everybody, we’re abiding by the Segovia Accords now! Everybody good with that? O.K. now let’s pick up where we left off last week.”[/li]*
[li]Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - Took place far away in space. Also, release of the movie did not correspond with the timing of the events in the movie (released almost 3 years after the first GotG movie but takes place only a few months after the first movie). So, it was natural not to reference it at all in the show.[/li][/ul]
For Infinity War I thought the acknowledgment would lean closer to what they did with Winter Soldier. And when they started building towards shadowy villains from space, that’s when I really thought they were preparing for Infinity War. This last episode, though, just did not feel to me like it was getting ready to acknowledge bigger events beyond the plot and characters of the T.V. show.
Meh, while I loved how Winter Soldier meshed with the show, I don’t see a need to acknowledge IW until next season, if there is one. Especially with the time-travel shenanigans, there’s no reason to believe the show timeline is still synced with the movies down to the week. Everything until the end of this season could easily happen before IW.
When the show was on Tuesdays, fans had the entire weekend until the next show after a Friday movie release. Now that the show is on Fridays… what counts as the “next show after the movie release”?
Acknowledging the new movie on the Friday show the very same Friday as the movie release is jumping on too quickly. So, fans that went to the Thursday screening will just have to accept that the show is lagging in timeline.
The show can certainly lag in timeline a bit more, but if it ignores Infinity War all together… well, then this show sure as hell no longer takes place in the same universe because this new movie is completely unignorable!
I thought they’ve acknowledged this show has diverged from the MCU - specifically, there’s no way Stark & the other Avengers wouldn’t know that Phil is really alive, considering he’s been on the news as a wanted terrorist & fugitive a few times, so in the MCU he’s been declared as permanently dead.
Well that sucks, if true. We’re pretty deep into season 5 in terms of quantity of episodes, I do not see how they can tie everything up with a bow neatly with the remaining ones they have left. It can’t be many. We’re on what, episode 18 or something now?
