Mary Tyler Moore Hospitalized [EDIT: RIP]

Oooo weee ooo I look just like Buddy Holly

Oh Oh

And you’re Mary Tyler Moore…
Hers was one of the first shows I ever watched on Nick at Nite. She’ll always be special that way…

Let’s not forget Sally Rogers (93).

I’m so glad we had this time together…

2017 is starting out barnstormers.

BONUS TRIVIA QUESTION: Name the Oscar-winning actress/director/screenwriter who played Murray’s daughter Laurie.

Helen Hunt (now a mere 53)

Carol Burnett? :dubious:

This one makes me very sad. She turned the world on with her smile.

:frowning:

RIP Mary

I can’t say how many hours I’ve spent enjoying her work.

To chase the sadness away just a little bit I pulled up Joan Jett’s version ofLove Is All Around

Shayna, Spiny Norman, and I were a couple of boxes away from her at the Hollywood Bowl one night. (And our box was one row closer to the stage. )

Anyway, whenever I see her name I always initially think of

Linda Hunt!

:stuck_out_tongue:

damnit.:smack: :o

If you can find DVDs (or tapes) of the old Steve Canyon TV series, check out the episode where they fly to Puerto Rico on maneuvers. Mary has a walk-on at the very end, and she looks like she’s about 18. She’s on-screen for less than five seconds, but there is absolutely no doubt that it’s her!

This one hurts.

Let’s not forget her role in Ordinary People. She played against type and made it believable.

Mary Tyler Moore’s production company was responsible for several great shows in addition to her own show and its spin-offs (Rhoda, Lou Grant and Phyllis): The Bob Newhart Show, WKRP in Cincinnati, The White Shadow, St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues.

She would always tell a joke whenever she appeared on a late-night talk show. Here’s one I learned from her:

Thanks, Mary, for all the entertainment over the years.

So, I remember a question on the dope about who’s a celebrity you really like where I answered, “Mary Tyler Moore”. I just searched and see that I made the same post twice!

Which celebrity/public figure do you most implicitly trust? (2014)

Celebrities everyone likes (2016)

To me the obvious answer to either question.

RIP Mary.

There’s a PBS special that aired several years ago: “Mary Tyler Moore: A Celebration.”

You might want to call your local Public TV outlet to see if they’ll rebroadcast it.

One of my very favorite actresses ever. :frowning: RIP

And Remington Steele.

She was in our house weekly for decades it felt. Thank you, Ms. Moore.

I loved the production logo-a take off on MGM with a cat instead of a lion, going MEOW. They would alter it sometimes to suit the show. Newhart had Bob saying “meow” it that Bob Newhardt deadpan. Which one had the deerstalker hat on the cat?

She also played a nasty piece of work in Stolen Babies.

So Netflix streaming doesn’t have it and Hulu only has the first three seasons, but I can still get individual episodes on Amazon video.

There’s a certain clown funeral I’m pretty sure my wife has never seen and I think tonight would be an excellent night for it.

The MTM Show was the first perfect sitcom on TV. Blockbuster cast of actors you likely never heard of, doing some of the best shtick out there. It’s where we first got to see Betty White as a not-so-nice person, and a regular character who was almost never seen (Chuckles the clown). I’m old enough to have watched the DVDyke show when it was first aired, and being hopelessly in love with Mary. She even did a movie with Elvis. So long, beautiful.
