Maryland shell casing law.

My dear man, are you aware of just how rare the stainless, factory folding-stock Ranch Rifle Mini-14 is?

Besides - I love Ruger’s stainless guns. My Super Redhawk .44 Mag with it’s 9.5 inch barrel, my 10/22…sigh.

hey Anthracite, excuse the delay for replying, but I’m a few hours ahead of you.

To start with, I’d like to restate my position on guns. I’ve owned a lot over the years, determined by where I was living at the time. For the last few years I’ve been living and working in the UK. Up until recently, this didn’t conflict with me enjoying shooting. The rules were tough, but fairly applied by the police (a lot of my fellow gun club members were police, in fact), so after filling in a bit of paperwork I got my firearms license.

Then there was a fairly hideous incident in Dunblane, involving a primary school(kindergarten), a maniac and a few guns. The local newspapers were looking for a culprit and rather than blame a society that likes to ignore people with mental illness, they decided to blame guns.

Shouldn’t have been a big problem really. The shooting community could have got organised, worked out a decent approach along the lines of “we understand your concerns, but here we are, just normal family people with a hobby - why demonise us”. Instead, they went for the hard line defence of “there’s enough gun laws, it’s our right, you don’t understand what you’re talking about” and so on.

Guess who lost out. Hell, I like my Franchi, but I do miss pistol shooting. Even if that Sig did used to jam way more often than any pistol should :).

So, despite your synopsis, and your blow by blow account of why you think Moongazer’s wrong, I still don’t agree with your statement of “You obviously have no grasp of the facts.” If you want to show someone that they’re wrong, one of the worst ways of doing it is just telling them they’re dumb.

Conversely, to the anti-gunners, if you really want someone to understand your worries, then just demonising them as a bunch of inbreds with alarming tastes in phallic symbols isn’t the best starting point either. Especially when a basic knowledge of chemistry is far more dangerous than anything Ruger ever made.

Gary, you made some very good points in your latest post, and I have difficulty finding fault with them.

But on a serious note…what did you think of my “Dino Safari” game idea?

And countless other Jurassic Park rip-offs.
Granted, realisticness is limited by current tech. :frowning:

Heh…I own Carnivore, and have played Dino Crisis. Too tame. What I’m talking about would be sooooo much cooler.

As I have always said, Una’s Rule of Thumb for Successful Action Games mandates that an action game must have a minimum of one of the following:

Guns.
Cars.
Dinosaurs.

OK, some substitutions allowed. “Tanks”, “A-10 Warthogs”, et al can be substituted for “Cars”. And “Nuclear Warheads” can be substituted for “Guns”.

But there’s no substitute for Dinosaurs.

Hi Joe,

I couldn’t have said it better myself! The antigunners use specious generalizations, misinformation, hyperbole, their fear of guns, their mistrust of honest citizens, half-truths, and outright lies to further their fanatical agenda and rob us of our constitutional rights. If they get their way the Bill of Rights will be repealed and they will squawk about having to live in the very police state they created!

I have watched these fear-ridden fanatics for a long time, and they are very good at ignoring/suppressing the facts while they rant on and on about something they have little if any real knowledge of.

IMO, the anti-gun movement got it’s impetus when the politicians figured out that the easiest way to get elected/re-elected is to scare the bejezus out of the simpering cowardly lefty-poohs about guns, while touting their tough new gun control law that they would pass if they were elected.

I watched as Gray Davis, our governor here, went on TV with cops firing fully automatic AK-47’s and stating that these were they guns they were trying to ban, when the truth was that they were seeking to ban all semi-automatic rifles. Our governor, IMO, is a monstrous liar.

Now, in Kalifornia, if your Weatherby hunting rifle has a scope on it, it’s a SNIPER RIFLE! Far be it from our state legislature to stop at despicable dishonesty!

Of course, as we all know, this has produced over 22,000 gun control laws that have done nothing to prevent or reduce crime, however this pandering to the fears they instill in the electorate with their speeches does get them elected, and once in office what do they care? The next time they run they will just cook up more scary talk about guns, by skewing the statistics, lying, misrepresenting and twisting the facts, and write yet another, and still more draconian gun control law.

Nevermind that doing so is flat out unconstitutional, what do they care about the Constitution of the United States which they are sworn to uphold, preserve and defend against all enemies, foriegn and domestic? Of course, they themselves are it’s principal domestic enemies, but why should they care when they have the backing of the frightened lefty-poohs, who just want a government that can spoon feed them, handhold them, and make everything scary go away?

As we have seen in this thread, they do not at all mind encroaching on still more amendments of the Constitution in their efforts to destroy our rights under the 2nd and 14th Amendments, and the 1st Amendment is clearly their next target.

These people rant on and on about the poor “children” killed by guns, while making sure not to mention that plenty of these so-called “children” are inner-city gangsters over 20! In point of fact, twice as many children drown in bathtubs than are killed by guns, but I don’t hear anyone calling for legislation against bathtubs. How many kids are killed by drunk drivers? We lose 55,000 people a year in auto accidents, but do you see anyone calling for a ban on cars? Drunk drivers kill thousands, but alcohol is legal and socially sanctioned, without the support of a Constitutional Amendment.

Another fact they don’t want the public hearing is that guns are used ten times more often to stop crimes then they are to commit crimes.

On it’s face the anti-gun and gun control movement is an illegal and monstrous hypocrisy, and the bleating sheeple supporting it don’t want anyone to hear the truth, they filter out anything but the preaching of the liberal candidates and established corrupt politicians who are using gun control to get into office or to stay in office.

As we have seen, these same sheeple are quite willing to live under facism and a police state… until they get it. Then no one will squawk louder than they do about the freedoms they voted away, and the oppression that resulted.

Here in California alone we have well over 40,000 known violent offenders on our streets, and it is in this setting they are trying to disarm us all and leave us defenseless against the criminals their revolving door system of justice has deposited on our streets. The police will tell you flat out that it is not their job to protect you. Well, to my mind that makes it your job!

I don’t know about you, but I do not see that I have any obligation to be killed by a criminal because a bunch of liberals are scared of anyone legally owning a gun! The liberals, while certainly fearful of crime, are also afraid of the means to defend themselves. Should I forfeit my life because they are too paralyzed with fear to face the world on realistic terms?

Two years ago I had a stalker after me. He found me by lurking in a women’s chat room, looked up my web page, figured out my email address from the URL, and started writing to me about camping, which is one of my main interests. He never said anything in the chat room, just shopped for a female target by browsing our profiles. He then started implying that we were forming a progressively deeper relationship, and subsequently disclosed to me that he was a cross dresser.

When I told him we could not be more than friends he went over the edge, and started driving 400 miles with a 9mm Glock trying to find me. Though our email exchange had started out quite innocuously be became insanely obsessive, and seriously unbalanced. I had to get a court order against him, and I still cannot be sure he has given up. The court order expires next month, and he could very well come after me.

The police told me that he was not a stalker under their definition, and that they would do nothing about him. This was when I started sleeping with a loaded .44 magnum. I still do, and I have since purchased an AK-47, and a Springfield 1911 .45 ACP, neither of which you can get anymore in this state. I keep the Colt Anaconda under my pillow, the 1911 with me at all times while at home, and the AK-47 is near the front door.

If Sen. Diane Feinstein has her way, I will have my guns taken away from me, and I will be defenseless, while she still carries her gun in her purse! Nevermind that she has bodyguards and security provided by my tax dollars!

I cannot imagine what they are thinking when they preach that banning guns will eliminate crime. They know better! None of the gun control laws they have enacted have had the least effect on crime, or done anything at all about the ways that criminals get guns. Their answer is to pass still more ridiculous laws that don’t work, and which only affect honest, peaceful, and law-abiding gun owners who are simply exercising their Constitutional rights! One wonders why they do not simply pass the law to end all crime.

A government that does not trust you with a gun is a government you should be very afraid of, and a government that will resort to twisting and distorting the wording of the Constitution it is sworn to uphold and defend is a government you had best not trust!

Have you tried ‘Turok - Dinosaur Hunter’ on the N64. Much fun!

I really liked your post, and I agree with you almost entirely. But what really caught my eye is your signature line:

I wonder if you even noticed how perfectly relevant to this debate that is… I know it’s just a joke from Saturday Night Live, but it’s also a good summary of just how gun control affects crime, and of the thought process of a predatory criminal: the same as when a cat sees a rabbit or a mouse, and feels an instinctual need to kill it, even if it’s not hungry; just because it can.

I read your post, and visited your website Amykins, and have decided that I like you a lot!
