Re. the column on Joaquin Murieta:
I was surprised to learn that one of my favorite serial adventure style movies of the last few years, “Mask of Zorro” with Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopins, was more than just Hollywood imagination. The Straight Dope story detailed the characters and plot lines from the movie exactly. (Murieta, Captain Love, Three-Finger Jack, etc.)
