Masons and money

Now that “Under God” has been removed from the Pledge on Constitutional grounds, it is widely believed that “In God We Trust” will be removed from the US Currency. And that’s fine, I suppose. I think about the pledge of Allegiance, and I think about “Under God” and all that stuff, and I ask myself, “is it Constituitional?”. Answer: Probably not, no. This is not a question of whether or not I agree with it, but whether or not the Constitution does. And so, I guess it doesn’t. BUT, I agree with Jon Stewart’s philosophy of “Unconstitutional, maybe. Suck it up.” No one has been hurt by “In God We Trust” or “Under God”. Suck it up.
But since someone had to get all picky about it, then I too am going to put up a fuss. If people are going to go to great lengths to eliminate any christian phrasing from the dollar bill, then I am going to announce here and now, in this semi-anonymous forum that I also want all Masonic symbols, such as the pyramid with the eyeball on it, erased from the dollar bill. IF atheists can claim that favoritism toward God is offensive, I can claim damages for this long-standing association with Freemasonry.

–advance one step with your left flup

I’ll be happy to take any offensive Freemason money off your hands.

I…ummmm… collect them. Yeah. Gimme.

Shut up.

Flup,

You may be jumping the gun with regard to the pledge business, since the ruling you’re relying upon has been stayed pending a reconsideration by the full circuit court.

Also, “Shut up,” is not an argument remarkable for its cogency.

Greedily counts and recounts his Mason-tainted money, wishing he had more

Tell you what, flup. I’ll trade you all my nice shiny US coins with the evil “13” symbolism on them for an equal amount of US bills that you find offensive.

Seriously, as long as I’ve got enough enough legal tender to pay my bills and buy the occassional computer upgrade, I could care less if the money was flat black with upside-down pentacles and demons painted in blood on them. As long as someone else will take it in exchange for goods and services.

Your OP reminds me of a frequent exchange I would hear at the playground many years ago: “Oh, you don’t like me? Well I don’t like YOU either!” followed by various combinations of hand gestures and facial expressions. Does it really bug you that much? Switch to checks and credit cards then. I’m sure you could probably go quite a while without touching any currency if you really tried.

When people tell me to shut up, I’m not the kind of person to keep blabbering nonsensically about nothing in particular. Some people just keep going on and on and on and don’t ever seem to run out of breath. I’m not one to flap my gums incessantly when I’m told to shut up. I don’t need to be told twice. So I’m shuttin’ up already. [/Bugs Bunny]

Ahhh. So my bold assumption that the pyramid is Masonic and therefore evil makes me a gullible and paranoid right-wing quack. I never realized. Alas, another man ld to his folly by UncleBeer (and, to a lesser extent, Cecil).

As for the rest of you, shame. Instead of addressing my problem you all just tiptoed around it. “Let’s not solve this problem, let’s pretend it’s not a problem.” This has never ben a viable sloution. Shame on you all. I will say good day to you now.

flup off

The Masons deny the Great Seal was designed by Masons.

That, coupled with the report by Cecil, settles the issue for me.

And I do want to see the Pledge changed from its current form (meant to bash Godless Commies at the height of the Cold War) to one that is closer to its original form (without the ‘under god’ clause).

Sir Flup,

I have never seen the “Broken Pyramid” in all of Masonic symbols during my research, which means you have done some pretty bad research.

This seems verifiable due to the fact that you seem to think Under God was removed from the Pledge.

This was only done in the 9th Circuit Court, of which I am under its Jurisdiction (Nevada), I have not seen this unjustified Supreme Court Ruling yet upheld by anyone in my State.

It’s not a matter of pretending it’s not a problem, it’s a matter of recognizing that it is, in fact, not a problem.

Likewise.

Atheist here.

Honestly I Atheist’ care about “In God We Trust”

Nor was I too worked up about “one nation under God”

Prayer in school is where’d I’d personally draw the line but hey maybe I’m a more easy going hysterical Atheist. You know the type that’s trying to burn down every church before leading a secular circle jerk over the American flag.

If you want to take the cough**cough Mason Symbols off the dollar go ahead. As long as it still spends.
