Mass Effect Legendary Edition Changes (GameSpot video)

Mass Effect Legendary Edition has gone gold. Looks like it will arrive when promised.

I’m looking forward to it.

I’ve never played a Mass Effect game and I am guessing this is perhaps my best chance.

What is it, like 100 hours to play through all three?

Edit: Also, what stores will this be on? Is it hitting GOG for PC?

Best series of games I’ve ever played. I know you like this genre of games, I think you’ll love the series.

Maybe a little more. First game 25-30, second game 35-40, third game 45-50 (with a lot of DLC that can stretch another 20).

Chiktikka vas Paus. The name is a callback to Chiktikka Fastpaws, the raccoon companion of Baervan Wildwanderer, a gnomish god in Forgotten Realms (and patron god of Aerie, the best party member & romance option in Baldur’s Gate II.)

Go for the eyes!

I envy you.

If you like the genre then I think this series is a must-play for any gamer. Don’t expect the best FPS…it’s not that. It’s just a great story with great characters that you will genuinely care about.

I’m planning on grabbing it, then. I actually own free copies of Mass Effect 1 and 2 on Steam, but I’ll ignore those and just start this when it releases.

I would prefer a GOG copy since those load up internet or no internet in my experience. Is this game getting sold there that we know of?

The EA site for this says (for PC) it is only on Origin or Steam.

I should add that Steam has an offline mode where you can play your games with no internet connection. It has been a while since I looked in to it though. Maybe you have to do something before hand to enable it…not sure. I don’t think it was hard to setup though but again, it has been a while since I bothered to see how that worked.

I have no clue if Origin has this.

If the game itself insists on an always-on internet connection then it does not matter what service you bought it from.

I know and it is an option. I believe it even defaults to that if you have any issues. I play at lunch during work(we eat alone due to pandemic) and the school filter won’t login to Steam and other platforms. I think it will just give up at connecting and load the game, though.

No, you just have to click “Go Offline”, and that’s it. My son and I share a Steam account, and I often go offline so we can play at the same time.

I will suggest that you ignore game length and just do everything you can. You could arrow through the game and be done faster but you would miss so much. Talk to everyone, multiple times as the game progresses (their dialogue can change as certain points in the game are reached). Revisit some spots and talk to NPCs. Do all the DLC. Each bit just layers on the story and fun with the place and characters (indeed, some of the DLC are easily the best parts of the game).

Take your time. There really is no rush to any of it. It’s like a fine meal. Sit back and enjoy it. It’s all fun. If it takes you two months to finish that’s fine…great even.

And there are so many plot and gameplay options to choose from that it practically begs to be played through at least twice. :innocent:

I’ve done it ten times, and I’m still finding little variations.

I’ve played through it 4-5 times.

To be honest, I find myself repeating my choices after the third playthrough. I can’t help it. I keep wanting to do a 100% Renegade run but I just can’t bring myself to do that.

I’ll have to post a read-along thread when I play. Should be fun.

I mean…if you feel like you did the right thing the first time, why do it differently the second time? The point of having choices in video games isn’t always so that you can explore different stories each time; sometimes it’s so you can create the story that’s best for you, and stick with it.

I guess the thing is you arrive at the same place so you try different routes to see different responses and paths to that final end.

Please do! I know I’d love to read it.

Hell if no one else cares then just PM it to me. I love living the game through other people’s eyes
