Mass Effect Legendary - my thoughts while I play these games (spoilers as I play)

Oh, and next time you go through ME2, bring Tali with you on Mordin’s loyalty mission. It’s funny when you give the krogan scout a pep talk.

Then it’s a duel! You and me. Wendy’s parking lot. At Dawn.

Yeesh, now I have to seek that clip out. I had Miranda with me here.

I have to credit the game makers. Kasumi has a ton of dialogue for a character that many players might not see since they do not have the DLC. She talks all throughout the game if you take her on missions.

If you’re interested in a specific character reacting to a specific situation, there’s a very good chance there’s a Youtube clip so you can see it without having to reload the mission or whatever.

“I can’t believe that worked.” Hehe.

You haven’t mentioned it yet, so I have to ask - what do you think of Martin Sheen as the Illusive Man?

No major thoughts about him. Fine, I guess.

I just did the abandoned Collector ship mission. I died a few times when they initiated attack on us. And it was a pretty creepy mission.

I liked it quite a bit.

Are you also playing ME 2 at Normal difficulty? Or did you bump it up to Veteran after ME 1?

There’s a TvTrope for that - and that scene is mentioned:

Normal, but I believe that the issue was that the last game was actually set to Casual and I thought it was on Normal. So it is one bump up from ME1 and feels right-ish to me now. I die a few times here or there, but can usually re-evaluate and continue. I don’t need it to be too tough, but I need to feel challenged and I do right now.

I have gained the loyalty of Jacob and Thane and Garrus. Thane’s mission was a pain because I had to follow this guy and a couple times he took odd turns and I lost him and had to re-do it. Made it, though.

Jacob…well…his mission was both disturbing and unfinished. We met up with his Dad and the mission kind of just…ended. Jacob is the most boring character in the game and his mission was intriguing(uh, to say the least), but lead to nothing much interesting. I would not mind if he died or no longer appeared.

Jack’s loyalty mission was excellent and by coincidence, I had Miranda with me so she could see what a Cerberus facility looks like at its worst. I didn’t plan it, but it did work out that way.

I also was able to complete Tali’s loyalty mission today. She was acquitted and seemed to be pretty happy about that. Tali is a great character.

I achieved maximum Paragon today as well. Will doing Renegade actions lower it now? In game 1, they were totally independent of each other.

Paragon and Renegade are always independent scores, as far as I know.

Jacob doesn’t get much more interesting in ME 3, unfortunately.

I find Jack to be an interesting character, but she’s YMMV. She also takes more work to get past her armor, exactly as you’d expect. You have to thread a needle of sometimes counter intuitive choices to get her to respond to you with anything but defensive bravado.

How’d you handle the post-mission conference-room showdown?

Calmed them down with the paragon/charm(“in blue”) dialogue option.

Finished every loyalty mission now. Zaeed was the last one. I really appreciate these missions as they fleshed out the characters and were a great chance to meet and get to know everyone.

Characters and gameplay are both better in this game. I’m at about 20 hours and much more invested in the entire series now.

Good. You need a high level of Paragon to do that. If you do Jack’s loyalty mission too early, before you build it up, you’ll be forced to choose sides, which will have some unfortunate consequences later on.

I focused entirely on Paragon and it is fully maxed out. I can pass any charm test at this point.

Renegade is only filled with the few times I gained a point here or there from various actions.

I chose Samara, by the way, not her daughter. This was also an interesting, but challenging mission. I read later that her daughter can ditch you if you are not interesting enough at conversation. I stumbled through and she asked to meet me in the apartment. Again, full Paragon made it easy to resist her mind-control. I chose Samara because it seemed right and I had already met Samara.
