And what steps are these? Do not say that you are moving to another country - that would make you an economic migrant.
A Facebook post? Really?
Pray tell - what are you trying to prove with that?
There are a lot of things you do not see. Let me help you with two reasons:
- There is no “train to the middle east”. In other words, there is no place where you could legally put the young man.
- There is no “young man who threatens to kill his benefactors”. All you have is a Facebook video of some guy making a rude gesture to the camera. You call that a death threat? Good luck finding a judge who supports that.
The cheese-eating surrender monkey’s - and their closest ally at the UN in refusing to support the illegal invasion of Iraq - are both saying this morning they’ll take an additional 55, 000 refugees.
**10,000 Heroes Open Their Homes to Syrian Refugees
Even as Europe’s governments shut their borders to Syria’s desperate refugees, thousands of Icelandic families are volunteering to host the newly homeless.**
Last month, the Icelandic government announced it had capped its resettlement of Syrians at 50 people. This small quota prompted a well-known author to write on Facebook that she could recruit hosts for these families. “They are our future spouses, best friends, the next soul mate, a drummer for our children’s band, the next colleague, Miss Iceland in 2022, the carpenter who finally finishes the bathroom, the cook in the cafeteria, a fireman and television host,” she wrote. “People of whom we’ll never be able to say in the future: ‘Your life is worth less than my life.’”
Thousands signed up to offer rooms, plane tickets, and companionship. In response, the government has formed a committee to reassess the situation and said it would consider raising the number of Syrians allowed in. It was also looking into the offers made on Facebook.
Laws can be changed. You haven’t given a good reason why a person who makes a gesture that is unambiguously a death threat deserves to reside in the West.
You mean that gesture? Sure - expel him, if you dare.
You know next to nothing about the man in the video. Nor about the context in which he made the gesture or to whom it was addressed. All you have is a brief Facebook video. You allow your xenophobia to do the rest.
You are exactly right that I know next to nothing about him. Nor, for that matter, does anyone else. That’s why we shouldn’t take them in. Especially when the only piece of information we have about the quality of this guy is the death threat he made.
Well - if information is what you are lacking, you could try and learn more about him before you make a decision. In “the West”, the culture of which you profess to be defending, that is actually the preferred approach. But since you wanted to see him expelled in the first place (gesture or no gesture) it is not really surprising that that would not be your first choice.
As far as “obvious” death threats go. Remind me: Who did Clint Eastwood threaten to kill in that picture I posted? I hope he has been duly prosecuted for it.
For all I can see that gesture was likely directed to the reporters, or to what he thinks is what the refugees are going through, IIRC the same gesture was seen coming from a Russian submarine commander that had his submarine floating adrift thanks to a serious failure back during the cold war, the implication was that the commander was letting all out there know what he thought his condition was (yes, we are “dead”, thanks for asking), or what he thought it was going to happen once the Kremlin found out who did screw up.
This is idiotic.
This gesture is never used as a literal death threat.
Considering the circumstances, the most likely intention was to indicate a request to stop filming (i.e., “cut”).
Except we’re not doing that. We’re waving him right on through to the welfare state of Germany without knowing who he is. There’s certainly no advance screening of refugees. Whoever makes it to Europe is there stay.
Context matters. Eastwood is an actor. The migrant is an individual.
[citation needed]
Migrants don’t have any say over whether they get filmed. It his gesture was not a death threat but rather a gross misunderstanding of how free speech works in the West, that indicates he neither understands nor shares our values. Deport.
I have no problem with that - Germany is a sovereign state and they are definitely allowed to take all the “refugees” they want. It’s a mistake and will cause enormous problems for Europe, but then I don’t live there and they can self-destruct if they want to.
Nonsensical request, and Eastwood was not acting on that, we all understood anyhow that in his and almost all cases the meaning of the gesture is not a literal one, otherwise we would not be discussing this in a message board as the Russian sub commander then would had launched his nukes. It seems that the ones that want to assume that the literal meaning is the only one that makes sense are not taking things into perspective.
Those need to deport those ideas from their minds.
Obviously changing what Ferrari said in Casablanca:
It would be a miracle for them to get out of the refugee camps and the Germans are allowing miracles now.
Throat slash, made by moving one’s index finger, thumb or entire hand, held straight and with palm down, horizontally across one’s throat; the gesture imitates cutting a person’s throat with a blade, indicating strong disapproval, extreme anger, or displeasure with others or with oneself;[11]alternatively, it can be a signal to stop broadcasting, i.e. “cut”
More idiocy. How is it a “gross misunderstanding of how free speech works” to communicate displeasure, or criticize someone else’s actions?
It seems you are the one who misunderstands how free speech works.
Yeah, “Shame on you”. That’s about all the lefty liberals have got in this argument. ‘A three year old drowned, have you no compassion?’ A photo of the lad on the front page of all the papers. Where were the photos of British holidaymakers when they were machine gunned in Morocco last month? Where was the outpouring of compassion? Or the elderly couple in Sicily, murdered by an asylum seeker a couple of weeks ago? I don’t recall big headlines about those poor people who had lived and worked all their lives in Sicily only to be murdered by someone who had literally just got off the boat.
I think people like you, always seeking brownie points for your ill thought out lefty liberal views are disgusting and arrogant.
Shame on you.
In the minds of the British troops that are training the fighters against ISIS and some of them are fighting ISIS.
This is indeed a red herring.
Nope, in reality the ones that deny the proper definition of “refugee”, that only disparage the same and are not willing to help depend on a lot of ignorance to claim that.
If you wouldn’t mind making that a little more coherent and with some sort of relevance to my post I will try to give you a reasonable reply.
Speaking of ignorance… the point was that you do depend on plain ignorance to make sweeping claims like that about liberals. What many do see (and it is not only liberals) is that these are indeed refugees that need help now and any other demands about liberals not appearing to care about violent acts are just distractions.
