I’ve absolutely no problem with Cameron’s proposals. A safe evacuation for vetted, genuine asylum seekers. And a big ‘Fuck You’ to Merkel, who seems to think she can dictate what the rest of Europe does.
Sounds more like sour grapes when we take into account what was said before by you in the thread.
In any case the pressure from other parties is bound to increase that number a bit.
Your ‘speaking English better than a native’ has lost me there. Would you care to expand on that?
Unlikely. The Labour Party looks set to make itself unelectable. We’ll find out on Sunday.
I clarified it earlier in this thread, which you had to see if you read the post you replied to.
It was originally presented that “75% of refugees are men”. Period. No qualifiers. That is demonstrably false. I linked to a cite earlier, and I’m not pulling it again for you. Go back and click it.
You want to argue about certain routes and certain countries, you need to qualify that in your post and link to it yourself if you are making claims.
The lady doth protest too much, methinks
You have never heard about the ancient fable about the fox and the grapes? And yes, the point I was making was that you are protesting too much in this thread when even Cameron had to increase the numbers of refugees that Britain will take, before the numbers were in the hundreds, from that to 20,000 is commendable and counter to your ideas mentioned in the thread.
Our democratically elected government has decided to allow 20,000 refugees from refugee camps in or near to Syria. In other words, “invited” refugees. Not the lawless rabble invading sovereign states, encouraged by the Germans, who then, in cahoots with the EU bureaucrats demand that other EU countries take their “fair share”. We in Britain will not be dictated to by the Germans.
I a previous post you said (in your better English than a native):
‘That not even in Britain they are listening to guys like you.’
Are you in Britain at the moment? Have you been talking to people and asking their views?
The link that worked gave figures for the first quarter of this year. Even then I doubt its veracity.
BTW, if you don’t mind me asking, where are you from?
Sorry, I’m not sure why the link doesn’t work, try this:
As noted, you are protesting too much and just pushing sour grapes.
What you saw coming from Cameron was a change from what it was before, if politically speaking he had to tell his party members that the refugees are now “invited” so be it. It was not really what guys like you were talking about in this thread.
Ah there it is again, the old “Fuck the Germans” meme. (Only that you particularly want to get under our chancellor’s dress. You and I have very different tastes.) The thing is that we get this “Fuck you” invitations with some regularity either from the extreme left or the extreme right, whenever we do not take the course of actions that they *know *with the absolute certainty one often finds among political hardliners would be the right one. One gets used to it.
As for “dictating” what anyone does. We reserve the right for ourselves to do what we feel is the right thing and also to voice our opinion on what we feel would be the right thing for others to do. If you are feeling “emotionally blackmailed” by nations that have decided to help the refugees, it really is your own problem.
Are there any? The news are full of refugees moving from Germany to Sweden. Do you have reports of migrants doing the same? You know the difference between a refugee and a migrant, right?
Thanks, that linked worked. It’s from 2014 and although it details the gender of refugees, it is based on worldwide figures and doesn’t apply to the movement of people into Europe this summer.
“pushing sour grapes”. You speak English like a native of Kazakstan.
We have a long history in this country of immigration. 30% of my home town has some Italian blood, we’ve had Poles here since the 1950’s along with West Indians, Indians, Pakistanis, Kashmiris, Bangladeshis and a smattering of other nationalities along with the relatively recent arrivals from Eastern Europe and the Baltic states.
They came legally. They didn’t rampage through the country with no regard to the law demanding anything.
Can you not see the difference?
Yes. Which is why I clarified it in the first place. Once again:
And funnily enough, English is your native language.
The old “Fuck the Germans” meme? What, the nation that started two world wars, murdered 6-8 million Jews in cold blood and are still whinging about Bomber Harris’s destruction of Dresden and Geoff Hurst’s goal in 1966?
Yeah, Fuck the Germans.
“Only that you particularly want to get under our chancellor’s dress. You and I have very different tastes”
That’ll be the world renowned German sense of humour will it?
Hasn’t Merkel been demanding that other countries take a share of the refugees she encouraged to come?
I can assure you I haven’t been affected by any emotional blackmail, but if I had, I would find your attitude “it’s your problem” rather callous.
I mentioned The War, but I think I got away with it…
If you want to mock another poster’s mastery of the English language, I suppose the Pit would be a better place for that.
If you are actually having trouble understanding him let it be said that you seem to be the only one so far. So maybe the problem is on your side?
So, a refugee gets to Germany. Presumably a safe place. Why move to Sweden?
I’m mocking arrogance. In an earlier post he said: “* just a warning though, many have told me in the past that regarding the English language I do better than many natives.*”.
The old Nazi comeback *and *the cliche about the oh so bad German sense of humour and all in one post? Go slow man, or you’ll be running out of ammo soon.
And yes, it is the position of the German government that each counry should take a share of the burden of helping the refugees. It seems to be your position that Germany should close its borders to the refugees (or as you would put it, to stop “encouraging” them to come.) So we are “dictating” each other’s policies now, are we?
Of course, most of them were economic migrants. You still have trouble accepting that Cameron does call the Syrians refugees, even if they are gong to be invited.
And as Hiker noted, you seem to have no good arguments when you are just stuck with my grammar, you are just going into ad hominem territory.
