If only everyone in that parade crowd had been armed, then they all could have started shooting at each other, and maybe Crimo would have been hit by a stray bullet. It’s all the fault of them gun-grabbers!
Or, worse, vote Democrat.
I’ve always been an emotional guy. I cried when I read this story, out of both sadness and anger.
Moderating:
Remember, this is the MPSIMS breaking news thread.
Reports are that Crimo left Highland Park and drove to Madison (the one in Wiscosin, I think – 2+ hours away) musing having another round of shooty-shooty but decided against it. He had a second gun and 60 more rounds of ammo.
You have to wonder why he decided against a second round of murder.
Trae Crowder (a/k/a Liberal Redneck) gives us another great three-minute synopsis, particularly focused on the RW spin (the aforementioned ‘spin’ having nothing whatsoever to do with the rifling of a gun barrel’s effect on a bullet. Nothing. Not At All.):
Yeah no it is very, very fair to blame the parents for his actions.
Blame them? How about prosecuting them? I’m not familiar with the rules for sponsoring a minor’s FOID card, but if you have to vouch for the cardholder’s mental well-being I’d say Crimo II committed fraud. Maybe accessory to seven counts of murder, too, but IANAL.
I think they absolutely deserve to be charged. Whether the charges would stick, I don’t know.
But he’s not a minor. Parents are not responsible for their adult children. Or, if they are, for how long is it reasonable to hold a parent responsible?
Reminds me a bit of Ethan Crumbley, who was known to be troubled, but whose parents didn’t seek help for him and in fact bought the gun used at his school, just days before he acted.
Whether it was because he was under 21 or for some other reason, Crimo III could not obtain a FOID card on his own, so his father sponsored him. Crimo II’s responsibility for the crimes isn’t because he’s Crimo III’s father; it’s because he sponsored a FOID card for someone who clearly should not have had one.
You really have to wonder what messed up rationale these parents have, to figure out that what an apparently aimless young adult (intentionally understating the case) like this really needs is firepower!
He sponsored him less than 3 months after knives were taken from the home due to his son wanting to kill family members.

You really have to wonder what messed up rationale these parents have, to figure out that what an apparently aimless young adult (intentionally understating the case) like this really needs is firepower!
(Bolding mine.) That’s an unfortunate word choice, but I also find this action unfathomable.
According to their attorney, Robert Crimo III’s parents were “completely in the dark” about his plans and saw no red flags.
Greenberg told NewsNation that his clients dispute what police have said about their son being suicidal and threatening to kill them.
Oy. So the family member who called the cops was lying about Crimo saying he was going to kill his family?
“I think the bigger issue here is why is a kid able to get a FOID card and then purchase a military assault weapon? I think that’s a bigger question that we should be asking ourselves. Not whether the family should have sponsored him to get a FOID card when there were no red flags and it was perfectly lawful,” Greenberg said.
No red flags? Are these people comatose?
He’s a loner who’s never had friends, AND
he’s been unemployed for two years and couldn’t have supported himself before that on a Panera paycheck, AND
he’s spending their money on assault weapons, AND
a family member said Crimo III wanted to kill them all, AND
someone’s reported that he tried to kill himself, AND
he’s writing and performing raps and posting videos about death and murder
but they’re stunned, stunned to find out he’s killed 7 people and injured dozens more.
“It’s just a tragedy all the way around. Imagine waking up one day and knowing that your loved one goes to a parade and gets killed. Imagine waking up one day and knowing that your child may never get out of jail,” Greenberg said.
Yeah, because those two things are the same. Frick.
Tuckie-wuckie?
That being said, I had not heard that Tuckie-wuckie’s mom had split from the family. That is kinda sad.
Tuckie wuckie?
Did I misremember what Crowder called him?
