Massage and Yoga

If one is planning on doing some yoga on the same day as getting a massage, does it matter which one is first? It seems like the yoga would be easier if someone has already pre-stretched you. On the other hand, would it be redundant to even do the yoga if you have already been relaxed and by a professional therapist?

I think it depends on why you’re getting the massage. If it’s just because you like 'em, it probably doesn’t matter either way. My total WAG is that it if you go into yoga feeling really loose from a massage, you might overextend something.

If it’s for targeted health reasons like an injury or chronic issue, it’s an “ask the healthcare professional” situation.

A yoga class can be 60-90 minutes, it includes a warmup, yoga postures with some brief rest periods followed by a cool down and complete relaxation. To follow that with a massage would be ideal imo.

The reasons for the massage are a) my sister gave me a gift card for a massage place, and b) it will probably feel good.
