Doesn’t Master and Slave have something to do with Networks. I remember hearing that term before, but I can’t remember where.
Nevermind. Just has to do with multiple harddrives and stuff. However, I just still have this faint memory of it being used in networking also, and maybe also ram and harddrive. I guess it’s used a lot.
I see nothing wrong with these term. It was named for this because that’s the way it works. Nothing racist or discrimitory about it.

You know what the messed up part really is?? How many black people work in the IT field? Miliions? Hundred of thousands? For how many years? 30-40? And not a ONE of them has ever brought this issue up?

Not that this whole mess isn’t absurd or anything, but it should be noted that IDE and the master/slave designations that go with it weren’t introduced until 1986. So that’s only 17 years of nobody caring. Still, your point stands.
I have to admit that when I read the headline, the whole “White master/Black slave” connection didn’t even enter my mind. The only thing I could think was, “Jesus, someone got offended and is connecting it to BDSM?”
