Fella and I are addicted to this show. (Well, I am and I got him hooked.)
We LOATHE Krissi. And not in the fun “the person ya love to hate” way.
What a nasty three day old trout laid out in the sun she is. (I would use cursewords but most would be a compliment compared to her.) She’s a bully. She has a horrible attitude. And she won’t listen to constructive criticism.
She reminds me of the owners/chefs of restaurants that Ramsay tries to help. (Yes, I know most end up going under.) She’s like Amy of the whackadoodle episode.
I understand strategy, but if I was on that show, on principle alone, I would have forced Krissi to compete every chance I got, simply because nobody that hateful, mean-spirited, and nasty deserves to get an ounce of free validation. I’m sorry to see Bri go, particularly since she’s 100 times the class act Krissi is. Some people can get a “bad edit” to manufacture a personality on someone undeserving, but I really don’t see that happening here. Krissi is a malicious piece of work, and the sooner she goes, the better. Ugh.
I hope Bri ends up beating Krissi in a showdown. Bri’s great, she’s cute, peppy, spunky, a nice person, and tries really hard. Krissi just seems annoyed that things weren’t handed to her on a silver platter and can never acknowledge that other people might be better than her. Gordon should tell her that of the food she judged to be better, she helped vote for Bri coming back (I didn’t actually see who’s plate it was)
Hooray! Bri is genuinely modest, unassuming, but still stands up for herself without turning into a Drama Queen. Definitely hope she tans Krissi’s hide.
I literally said a swear word when they showed the previews that Brie was one of the possible returnees. It’s blatantly obvious that they’re rigging things so that she’ll win. Vegetarian is the new blind.
The first time I ever heard of Masterchef, it was from watching Masterchef Australia. It’s funny reading here about the toxic personalities on MC America because the Aussie one is so friendly. The contestants all seem to like each other and as it gets close to the end, they seem truly gutted when someone is eliminated. The judges, Matt, George and Gary, are all adorable, Gordon not so much. It was amusing the other night tho watching him be so pleasant to everyone…I was thinking this must be killing him to be so nice, and sure enough, by the end of the program he was swearing like a sailor.
Much prefer the Australian one. All this manufactured big brother type conflict gets boring after a while. I’m happy with enjoying the cooking!
I have found the Masterchef shows from the BBC to be much more watchable. The standard way American reality shows are done is really annoying, even if the show is interesting.
Actually, I think this is the first time there has been very much antagonism between the contestants. Oh, sure, plenty of “I’m going to win” and “X isn’t good enough” comments in the confessionals, but this person and person viciousness is new.
I’m so sick of them shoving her vegetarianism down our throats. It makes her seem one-dimensional. Everything is about Bri going ‘ewwwww!’ every time she has to touch meat. I don’t mind the vegetarianism, it’s that it’s the core of her entire persona on the show. She’s not Bri the Masterchef Contestant, she’s Bri the Vegetarian. I mean, Luca specializes in Italian cuisine, but it isn’t obsessed about.
Nice to see Bri win her way back… and nice to see Bimi back…
Totally rooting against Jordan now… he’s a complete punk… He was sweating Lynn coming back… To be the best you gotta beat the best…him wanting lynn to lose because he was scared to face him… total punk move…
I just love the sourpuss look on Natasha’s face… She’s just a salty chick…
Alright, finally caught up to my DVR. Luka is my favorite! Of Lynn’s elimination he said (to paraphrase-) “I don’t think he’ll be eating eggs for breakfast tomorrow”. Oh gosh, he’s hilarious. And sweet. I think Krissi is obviously still on because of her loathsome personality, she never wins anything. And it’s a bummer, because I was rooting for her after her audition.
I don’t know why they didn’t bring back that big tall lobster popcorn guy instead of Bimi. I don’t know what it is about Bimi, but something is fishy there. Joe pegged him as some kind of shyster way back, and I think he’s right. I don’t know how exactly- maybe he had cooking lessons, or worked in a kitchen under the table as a youth. But I think Bri is a class act, and I like watching her, so I’m glad she’s back.
But the whole thing is weird to me, that these people would be supposedly home cooks, yet know how to cook every single thing without appearing to ever consult a recipe. And they can make things like raspberry coulis? I love the show because I love food AND I love Gordon Ramsay. But every time I watch, I feel like I’m missing something.
Agree totally with the antagonism. Last year was my first year watching MasterChef, and it really seemed like the contestants liked and respected each other. At the very worst last year, someone might say they didn’t really know somebody else. They were still asked the “who are you gunning for” type of questions, but they seemed to respond honestly as a competitor, without rancor. And when someone had to leave, you could tell that everyone else was really sad to see them go (even while probably thinking "yay! It’s not me!)
This year is totally different, and it’s off-putting. Sure, it’s pretty easy to hate Krissi and Natasha, but it seems this year like a lot more people are petty, vindictive, and spiteful. “I hate her” and “they hate me” and all that - it sucks. I don’t like it, not one bit.
Last year, it was pretty hard to hate the blind girl. She did really well and won a lot, but you hardly ever hear anybody talk shit about her because of the handicap. The season before that they kind of rolled with the villain thing late in the game when somehow Christian suddenly became the bad guy when he wasn’t seen as such for most of the competition. Creative editing perhaps? Or their ratings were falling and they told the contestants to spice it up a bit
