Masters Week 2016!

It’s that time of year again. I have to think that Jason Day is the odds-on favorite this year, and I’d love to see final pairing of him and Jordan Spieth!

Speith is really out of form (for him). They say he’s been overdoing it on the corporate events and the paid overseas appearances.

Putting. He actually played pretty well this week except for the putting. Gotta sink those putts, man!

Gary Player hit a hole in one today.

Nice! I guess he still practises a lot :).

Going to be windy for the 1st 3 days. Fun fun fun…

Yeah - just pulled up the weather and they say sunny and breezy throughout. I so prefer it when Augusta is not playing soft. Should be fun!

I’d like to see Rickie Fowler break through, or Rory bag his career slam. Dustin’s long been a fave of mine, and he’s been racking up the top 10s this year but consistently failing to close the deal. Think he’s fitting into the category of Phil as guys who make it painful to root for. Speaking of Phil - no reason to count him out. He claims he’s driving it better than ever, and has been showing some game…

Hope that come Sunday it comes down to a shoot out between some of the big guns and a couple of lesser knowns. Not taking anything away from a Zach Johnson or Oostie, but my preference is not to see a solid short hitter just plod to victory.

Damn, Spieth - nice time to get it together.
And DJ is positioning himself to tease me - as usual!

Just watched Ernie 6-putt from 2 ft on the first green. So painful to watch!!!

Wait… Yahoo news is saying 7-putt. Yikes!!! Highest score on the 1st hole in Masters’ history, by 2 strokes.

Spieth is doing well.

Oh god, poor Ernie.

Good god, that was astounding. I’ve been known to miss my shard of short putts, but - words fail me!

The clips on line seem to show 6 putts, but was there an initial 6 footer they don’t show?

I often wonder when the pros stop and remark even short putts, but that might have been a good idea for him at some point. As lousy as Ernie felt, how would you like to have been his poor caddie - just standing there…

Good on Ernie for keeping at it. It’s pretty easy to give up after something like that. He’s been 1 over since then.

Years ago, I was trying out for the university golf team, I opened with an 11 on a par 5. The difference being I hit the first three out of bounds. I clubbed down each time and even on the third attempt I drilled a 3 iron straight right. My final that stayed in was a 7 (which I hit unfailingly well, and pretty far for a 7). It is one of my prouder moment that I went 2 over the rest of the round from the championship tees. Easily one of my best 17 holes. 80 didn’t get it done, but it felt pretty good.

Tough finish for Jason Day: steps onto the 15th tee at five under, walks off the 17th green at even par.

The last time I took that many putts on a hole, there was a windmill on it.

Second day obviously much tougher than the first - best score by anyone was 71. Rory McIlroy had that, and gained 3 strokes on Jordan Speith.

The low amateur is Bryson DeChambeau, at even par. He was 3 under (tied with McIlroy for second) heading into the final hole - where he made triple bogie. Still, tied for 8th halfway through your first Masters is not shabby.

You play golf in Holland a lot?

Hey, we get Jordan and Rory in the final group tomorrow. That should be fun to watch?

No question about it.

Rory’s putter is not working today.

Young master Jordan has been all over the place today, but bloody hell his putting has been relentless.
