I had one date on Match. Four years later we live together. That’s typical right?
How many women did you (and Lamar, too) have to write to to get those two (or four, or six) dates?
Maybe a dozen. Half contacted me and asked me out.
When I was on match.com I dated almost weekly. I stayed within 5 years of my age mot of the time. Overall I had a good experience. No major disasters and only a few horrible dates.
Same here, almost word for word what I would have said. In fact I believe most contacted me first. My main issues tended to be distance, probably because I live in Stockton. Most of my best matches tended to be 40-70 miles away so things would tend to peter out if I couldn’t make time. Also, women tend to want men to take to lead on making the date. This was harder for me when my date was in the major city and I had to research meeting places from a distance.
Someday I have got to figure out how you guys do this.
Joined Match summer of 2003. Had the good luck of two to three dates per week, then had the great luck to meet Mrs. Devil; we’re very busy living happily ever after.
Met my boyfriend on match. We’ve been dating for a year. Best relationship I’ve ever had. I’m 54 and I live in a college town so there’s no way I was going to meet anyone. He is a firefighter and is awesome.
I think being honest and realistic is the best course to take. If you are a game player with a concience it won’t work out well because you will have plenty of opportunity to play the game but you will hear about it afterward.
Ditto.
Maybe we need a SDMB dating thread…
…oh, scratch that!
The first this afternoon was a no-show (coffee). Tonight was a real dinner. I had a bit of a bad attitude going in, but it was freaking awesome! Not in that way, you pervs.
It’s been tried.
I noticed a woman making eyes at me today so I smiled and politely said “hello” in platonic acknowledgement. She drove by a minute later in a white cargo van and held up a pizza box and said “want a slice?” They warned me about this sort of interaction in elementary school during the 80’s so I ran away and hid. She didn’t recreationally vivisect me in the windowless murdering chamber which was surely set up in the back of the van. I consider that a win.
