I’d like to thank everyone who has participated and, on the off chance that we’ve had any spectators, all of you as well. I’m going to be thinking about how we can make the game move faster going forward and indeed about whether this format is even suited to a game like this.

I liked the idea of having more than six panelists, and only counting the first six submissions from them. I imagine that might make things move a little more quickly.
The only downside IMO would be for the second round, when we gotta figure the panelists who don’t play and pair off three/four accordingly.
Give them 24 hours to respond, then open it up to first come, first served (used).

Wow, so I decide to leave and the game dies? I had no idea I had the same kind of pull as Richard Dawson! 
I let it sit to see how many “Hey, when will we get back to playing” comments I got.
It seems to me the demand just isn’t here, and since whatever format we wind up utilizing will need 8 people really interested in keeping it going, I need demand to justify the effort.

I would love to be involved in future rounds, but if this game is re-starting soon, there are a number of periods during which I’ll be away from my computer for days, so I can’t be counted on for right now.
Just noticing this thread for the first time…I loved me some Match Game – count me in for a restart!
Do I look like the kind of person to let an outpouring of interest change my mind when I’ve decided there’s not enough interest to support my changing my mind?

Okay, folks. If there’s really some willing players out there, here’s my thinking:
New game format
Round 1
I’ll announce that a new game is beginning, and shortly thereafter will post the first Round 1 question.
The first 8 responses PMed to me will determine the players for that game. This completely obviates anyone of any expectation of participating from one game to the next and relieves me of the responsibility to fill seats, move people around, satisfy requests to be the next contestant, etc. If you want to play, just respond. If you’re late, that will serve as incentive to be quicker next time.
THE FIRST TWO RESPONSES WILL BE THE CONTESTANTS. I strongly recommend that interested parties subscribe to this thread so you know when stuff is happening.
Responses 3-8 will become panelists.
When I have 8 responses, I will prompt for the first contestant to post their answer, then will post the panelists’ replies.
Question 2 and then all of Round 2 will run pretty much as they have from that point on: I’ll post a question, get PMs from the 6 panelists, ask the appropriate contestant to post their reply, then post the panelists’ replies.
My hope is that this will result in less rigidity in the group of participants and allow anyone with a quick wit and a quick hand on the “Post Reply” button to keep the game moving.
