Apparently all the virus protection in the world will not help if someone (or someone’s girlfriend as in this case) is determined to ignore all warnings, download, and execute a piece of malicious code.
Does anyone have any experience with this bastard? It is called WIN95MTX or the Matrix. One of the things it does is not allow me to access symantec.com. I downloaded fixmtx.exe (from Symantec) at a friend’s house, e-mailed it to myself, and ran it here. Hundreds of infected files were repaired, but one file remains infected.
c:/windows/system/wsock32.dll
I still can’t get to symantec.com, but most of the other symptoms are gone. Anyone have any suggestions?
You need to reinstall some system files (including wsock32.dll) from your windows CD. Here’s some instructions from http://www.nai.com.

Hey guess what.
http://www.nai.com is also inaccessible.
I would go back over the the friend’s house and contact symantec from their. Explain the situation and ask if they can offer any advice.
KKBattousai, it looks like there’s a problem with your page (try renaming the vil directory to VIL in geocities).
Anyway, here’s another reshosted version.

can you get any web page up, how 'bout mcaffie - they have an online scan and a 1 month free trial - also you can try pccillan - not as good but if it gets you fixed up, then your fixed.
you can try to access the page using ansii codes for the name (i.e. http://%45 %39 %08… btw those are not the real numbers, you will have to look them up) or you can try entering their ip address.
Also you can try replacing / with /./
First the bad news. Even the rehosted pages crashed my browser…
However, the page KKBattousai posted a link to loaded before it crashed my browser so I was able to look at the cached version of it with the notepad. And it worked!
Everything seems to be fixed now. Thanks for all your help everyone.
