Max Headroom and Robocop: connection?

Didn’t want to hijack Fuji Kitakyusho’s Max Headroom thread, but I got to thinking - any connection between these two? I’m unaware (ok, haven’t bothered to research) any real-world connection between the two. Just that the general theme of both is similar: A vaguely dystopian near-future of urban decay, feudal corporations, and attempts to create cybernetic alternatives to human personnel. Can it be postulated that Max and Robocop exist in the same fictional universe?

Well, I can’t find a common director or writer between Max Headroom and any of the Robocop movies or its TV series, so I doubt there was any intentional connection. The near-future corporate dystopia is a pretty common setting, though. Arguably, it also applies to Blade Runner, TekWar, Escape From New York/L.A., I Robot, Johnny Mnemonic, etc.
