May I group several unrelated questions into a single GQ OP?

…or do I need to just start several separate threads. A possible thread title would be something like “A hodge-podge of questions.” I’d rather not pollute GQ with too many threads if it’s not necessary but, then again, having descriptive thread titles benefits the people who read them.

I kindly thank you for your help.

It’s been done, and I haven’t ever seen anyone get in trouble for it. The problem is that you’re less likely to get people who can answer your questions than you would be if you posted them separately with descriptive titles.

It also benefits you, if you want any kind of useful response to your questions.

What they said.

Since I’m the one who’s gonna have to read your OP and deal with the “hodgepodge” of answers you get, I’d suggest that you do separate questions.

We moderators don’t usually mind a few questions from a poster. Just make sure that your “questions” really belong in GQ.

Ever have a doubt, you can email a GQ moderator. Or do what you just did.

Echoing what’s been said, basically, separate posts (a) more courteous to readers and (b) more likely to get responses. We have way more threads than most people can read. If I’m an expert in Peruvian teakettles, I’d be likely to read and respond to a thread “Question about Peruvian teakettles” and I’d be completley unlikely to open a thread called “Hodge podge.”

BTW, those of you who write letters to Cecil, it’s way easier for me to deal with the mail if there’s one question per email.

Is it better if they are related?

For example. a GQ thread with several NFL questions could probably easily be grouped together.

A GQ thread with questions about ancient Rome, nuclear physics, and spyware would just seem to be a mess as well as hard to search in the future.
