It is official! I’ve been turning in cards and deposits for the past few months, but it has never felt ‘official’ until this morning. What makes today so special? Today, I mailed my loan applications. (Yikes - another 40K on top of the 50K left from undergrad  )
In September, I will be part of the entering 1L class at Georgetown University Law School
Any words of advice? Suggestions of what to do with what remains of summer? Pre-law reading? I’ve read both Law School Confidential and How to Survive in Law School – and there is now a list on G’town’s server. Any additions or recommendations to the list will be very appreciated.
Pleeeeeaaaaaasssssseeeee wish me luck!

IANAL but I do have friends who are lawyers and I watch television shows about lawyers, therefore I am eminently qualified to give you some worthless advice. Actually I am more qualified to just say “Woohoo. Way to go and good luck.”
I assume you have gotten as many scholarships and grants as you can so that you minimize your debt. But once you graduate and start on your career it will be but a drop in the bucket.
I won’t try to give you advice about what to do over your summer cause my advice usually is “sleep in and stay up late”. But do remember to have fun.
I was a member of the Georgetown’s law school class of 1997. It’s a great school and Washington’s not a bad place to spend three years.
I read the list from the G-town web site and all I can say is ACK! I didn’t read anything in the months before law school, even the books you’ve already read. Instead,I worked (file clerk in a law firm), proposed to my wife, and prepared to live together with her for the first time. (We got marrief the next summer.)
My heartfelt advice is to not stress too greatly over law school this summer. You’ll have three years of stress starting this fall. Enjoy this summer as one of the last relatively carefree periods of your life.
I’m sending you my e-mail address. If you want to talk to someone who was there a few years ago, drop me a line.
