Maybe Brits Should Send Their Kids Abroad to Find a Mate!

Because there may be up to 600 people from the same dad on those verdant Isles!

Someone else can do the math better than me, but couldn’t that mean a second generation of over 1000 descendants already?

Another reason why fertility clinics and the whole IVF thing is just so wrong.

I would think they are to the third and maybe 4th generation.

What exactly is wrong w/ fertility clinics and ‘the whole IVF thing’?

Is it wrong that I’m picturing the doctor getting frazzled at a huge backlog of work on a conveyor belt ala I Love Lucy and just pounding away at himself?

Between this guy and Cecil Jacobson we may be well on the way to creating a new species.

A new TV shows: “Survivor: Spermatozoa”, a game show, “Jerking for Dollars” and a sitcom. “My Three Hundred Sons”.

Of course the Yakety Sax song would be accompanying?

Maybe if he took a swig of Vitameatavegemin…

“Are you unpopular?”

“No, I’m a pop.”

From the article:
The same sperm donor should not be used to create so many children because of the risk that two of the offpsring will unwittingly meet and start a family of their own, which could cause serious genetic problems in their children.

Add Octomoms, women bearing their own grandson, etc. and it’s one of those things which are potentially very good but which get misused left and right.

Also from the same article, and slightly more relevant:

*"In 1990 the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act set up a regulator of fertility clinics and limits were set on the number of families a sperm or egg donor could provide.

Sperm donors can provide samples for the creation of up to ten families."*

The HFEA regulates fertility treatment fairly well in the UK, and situations like that in the article (from the 1940s!) just would not happen now. Nor situations such as Octomom etc. I can’t speak for American clinics, but we’re a lot better regulated over here, thank you very much.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but if it based on incorrect information (such as that from the linked article), you may wish to reconsider that opinion.

What’s wrong w/ ‘women bearing their own grandson’ in particular?

ScareyFaerie’s likely one of those people very much against something they feel they’ll never need until they need it, like people who rage against pot use but never turn down prescription painkillers.
