Maybe I Need a New Image

I vote for Hannah for the kitten…

We have a matched set of kitchen stuff that is white with blue hearts on it. Bowls, glasses, plates, clock, trivets… you get the idea. I went a little insane when we first got married. So all my cereal bowls are white with blue hearts on them.

The munchkin has a small variety of cereal bowls with Dora, Blues Clues and other characters on them. The bowls have plates and cups and cutlery to match. She’s one spoiled little kid!

I haven’t had a denim jacket in a long time. In high school I had a lot of them though. And I had my ‘cool’ jeans that I got at a consignment shop and they had strips of different material up the side of each leg. When the knees wore out I wore funky colored spandex underneath so my knees were always brightly colored. Yup I was a teenager in the 80’s and had feathered hair and everything. I was especially into the different colored socks thing and had well over 100 pairs of socks.

I’m pretty sure that admission is going to ruin whatever reputation I have

What’s breakfast?

Astroboy (currently unemployed, and not aware that any time exists between 2 AM and noon).

PS: **Rue looks like Pooh!!! Rue looks like Pooh!!! Rue looks like Pooh!!! ** Ha-ha!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, what a coincidence all this jacket talk would come right before autumn descended upon north east Florida. It was loverly and cool this morning - mid 60s, so not necessarily jacket weather - and I noticed that I don’t have appropriate outerwear. I’ve got a fleece jacket and a leather 3/4 length coat and a cape and a poncho from Mexico, but no lightweight jacket for the slightly cool mornings. At least, not in my bedroom closet.

I’ll check the coat closet when I get home. I just toughed it out this morning - go me! And I have a light sorta-fleece jacket-thing in the office for when the ac is set too low or when the heat isn’t high enough, but it’s to stay here - I just take it home a couple of times a year to wash it.

So, I need a jacket. I’m not a denim jacket person. What to do? What to do?
breakfast this morning was a slice of whole wheat with peanut butter, and some cantalope.

FCM, one word: (well, actually two) wind breaker. Right now I bet the stores are loaded with em. I have a Tommy Hilfiger[sup]TM[/sup] one that I like. It’s dark blue with yellow trim. (the yellow is kinda Pooh like now that I think of it) The thing about this jacket is, when I saw it in Dillard’s department store and it was $89.00, I thought it was soooo uggggg-leeeee! However, when I saw it in an outlet store for $29.00, it was the most wondrous, beautiful, cool, jake jacket I had ever seen! Amazing what a $60.00 discount will do for ya. The hood on the jacket is Winnie-the-Pooh yellow, too. And retractible. The hoodfolds up into the collar which has snaps on it to keep the hood in.

I gotta say this about cereal. YUCK! I don’t like cold cereal and milk. I use Rice Krispies [sup]TM[/sup] in a recipe for cheese crisps for that added crunchy goodness. I don’t eat em in a bowl with milk though. Who needs all that noise in the morning! I also like the little marshmallowy gooey treats you can make with em.

-swampbear (wearing the wind breaker today)

I have a two leather trenchcoats (black) and a purple velvet jacket. They’re nice and warm, and it’s getting cold up here.

Mr. Lissar has already suggested “Motte”. I have haughtily ignored him. “Killer” might be a good name. Or “Kahlua” or “Goldschlager”, to go with Bailey in a different way. “Hannah” is nice, too.

It’s really hard to sleep when you’ve got half a pound of fuzz curled up on your shoulder, purring really loudly in your ear. I’m sleepy.

I’ll trade you … I’ll take the half pound of purring fuzz and you can have the 35 pound toddler that can’t stay in one position for more than 6 minutes, the 76 pounds of fuzz that decides 2:00 am is great for toenail biting and the other random fuzzballs ranging in weight from 7 to 22 pounds who decide to play tag at first light

I need a bigger bed!

Rue DeDay, thank you for my new sig.

Well you smell like poo Astroboy! N’yah!

OK, wait a minnit, stop the presses and stuff like that. You “don’t have appropriate outerwear” Snickers? Yet you said you have a cape. I don’t get it. If you truely have a cape, you have the perfect outerwear choice for any occasion. More people should wear capes.

You should listen to Mr. Lissar Lissla. He sounds real smart. Although I’m sure you’re just a whizz at “haughty”. I’m sure you could “haught” like nobody’s business.

You’re very welcome Bruce. It’s like a service I provide here. (And I had to turn sigs back on to see what you were talking about. That’s how much I care.)
-Rue. (Mr. Care)

People are throwing around the color of Pooh (Winnie the, that is) without being very specific. I’m declaring myself to the the Winnie the Pooh expert, based on the fact that I have a collection of Pooh stuff and am not ashamed to admit that it is mine, all mine. No kids allowed.

So, when you say something is the color of Winnie the Pooh, are you refering to the Classic (Shepard) Pooh, or to the modern Disney Pooh? Disney Pooh is a bright yellow, the type of yellow that almost glows in the dark, and he most often wears a red shirt. Disney Pooh is a flashy imitator of the true Pooh. Classic Pooh is a soft yellow-brown, brighter than buff, but too yellow to be tan. He possesses a natural grace and charm absent from the Disney Pooh, who is more clownish. I could write much more on the differences betwixt the two, and expand into the other beloved characters as well (don’t talk to me about the Disney Eeyore), but I will leave you to contemplate the importance of being specific when talking about colors.

Kallessa (a Classic herself)

I had the classic Pooh when I was little. (Thank Og for that “h”) I also had a jean jacket that I wrote “Motley Crue” on (except I used the umlats, and didn’t use quotes). Wow, was I ever cool.

The real reason for this post is to point out that FCM is just one post away from 7,000. Wow.

‘Tis indeedy bumping up on jacket season, but swampbear I would be a bit more careful advertisin’ how you are about “breakin’ wind” in this-y here Pooh thread. Just a note.

But even if it is a bit smelly (even though Rue says it’s BruceDaddy who’s the smelly one, very confusing) your jacket sounds jake. I had one like it for a little while, but it wasn’t Tommy Hilfiger, probably 'cause I’ve never owned anything that’s Tommy Hilfiger. At one point, I think I had a principle about that, but I don’t think I do any more. Maybe I’ll make a new principle that involves a Tommy Hilfiger jacket. Yeah. It’s definitely getting to be that season.

Sunuvugun - that would make this my 7000th. It seems only right that it occurs in the thread of my #1 Special Friend. No, wait, I’m his #1 Special Friend. He’s the secret object of my lust. As I write this, I envision Rue in his Pooh jacket. And socks, too - wouldn’t want his feet to get cold.

One would think a milestone post would be profound. One would think, huh?

At this time I would like to introduce a formal request.

I the future, I would be most appreciative if my fellow MMP posters would try to include at least one item I can relate to. I don’t see how I can come up with a remotely suitable hijack for this thing.

Sheesh. I can’t even get any traction on the jacket issue.

Ex, you can always hijack by talking about how wonderful I am. It’s a little embarrassing, but I don’t mind. I’ll endure just for you.

Kallessa, the classic Pooh would be, I believe, a chamois color. Not tan, not yellow, but a warm pale ochre.

Ex, honey, since you’re having trouble keeping up, why don’t you make us a list of topics you can relate to? That shouldn’t take too long. :stuck_out_tongue:

Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day. Truly. At least for me. I live for breakfast - especially muffins. Muffins rock. Homemade muffins rock the best. My freezer does not have homemade muffins in it for the first time in a long time, and it makes me sad. I have banana bread slices, but no muffins. I will be making muffins soon - either Peanut Butter-Honey Muffins, or Spicy Raisin Muffins. Of course, this morning I had cereal - Kashi Go Lean with 1/2 ounce of walnuts and 1/8 cup of Craisins mixed in. I like my 1/8 cup measure. In fact, I like my entire set of dry measuring cups - they are plastic, and semi-transparent, and best of all, they are my favorite color - purple. Purple rocks.

Winnie the Pooh also rocks - but not as much as Eeyore.

I just had to go back and try to re-spell transparent - and even now I’m not sure it is right. Too lazy to look it up. And spelling it made me think of my parents.
Susan

Oooh, Lissla, name him George! Then you could have George and Bailey. And that would crack me up.
Well, it would.

I had a denim jacket once. It was stonewash. I’m not gonna tell you how old I was when I had it though, cuz right now I’m feeling like a babe in the woods, or however that saying goes. I don’t have any denim jackets now. I want a flannel one, though, because I froze at work this morning. I’m doing a stint wherein I report to work at 7 AM and I’m outside all day, and man is it cold just before sunrise!

Now, my mental picture isn’t quite complete. Rue, how is your jacket Pooh-colored? Is it A.A. Milne’s Pooh color or is it evil Disneyfied Pooh color? This is important…really.

Aaack…and upon posting, I see that Kallesa has already covered the fine points of Pooh color. Oh, well.

Um, I love breakfast. I could eat breakfast all day—it’s true! I love oatmeal, french toast, cereal and milk, eggs and toast. Mmmmmm. I think maybe I’ll even have me some breakfast for dinner today.

I’m not sure how casual your office is, but I think I remember you saying you wear jeans all the time, so, pretty casual. If you don’t want to go with a denim jacket, how do you feel about corduroy? They have some lovely ones in the store right now, and you can go with the classic jean jacket shape, or get one with a little more flair. A girlfriend of mine just bought the cutest one, except we found it in a warm, chocolaty medium-wale corduroy (and it’s much cuter without the collar, which detaches).

Or how about a trench? Not one of the big ones with all the pockets and flaps and what not that add 20 pounds, but a simple, pared down shape, like these. I particularly like #2. You could probably find a knock-off somewhere.

Corduroy is a good idea! I need to do some shopping. Or I could take Rue’s vote and wear my cape. I do like the cape, but it makes buckling up and driving interesting.

Nope, definitely need a jacket.
