I thought about posting this to CS, but it has a factual answer, so here goes:
One of the M&M mAzing candy bar commercials came on tonight during a break from Comedy Central Presents. For those unfamiliar with the commercials, they show people performing extroadinary feats, after which the candy bar decides to reward them by unwrapping itself in some humble offering to their greatness.
This particular commercial featured a young girl first bending over backwards, then standing on her hands and bending her legs back over her head, and finally placing her chest and arms on the floor and using her legs and feet to run in a circle around herself. This last bit is quite impressive, and I used my satellite DVR to rewind and go frame-by-frame. It was then that I noticed her blinking seemed to be funny.
Immediately following the end of the last stunt, she gets up and walks towards the camera. During this movement, she blinks 5 times in around 2 seconds. Looking further back, she’s also blinking heavily towards the end of the stunt, before getting up.
Was this stunt been faked, done in slow motion, and then sped up to make it look more impressive? How can we tell?
I watched that commercial too. I have no trouble believing such a young, skinny girl could do that. Whether it’s sped up or not, I can’t tell. Some people blink a lot when they’re excited. She does look pretty self-satisfied.
The other night on The Steve Harvey Show a guy emerged from a 2’ x 3’ box (not really sure of the size but it was pretty small), twisted around, bent over and around, put his head between his legs, then twisted again so he was facing his ass and could have…well, you know. No dogs who may have been watching would have been jealous. I’m sure he could have easily done the same moves as the girl in that commercial. Steve Harvey was very impressed. Couldn’t stop remarking on it.
That performance and the commercial kinda creep me out. Why is it so creepy?
