McCabe &Mrs. Miller

One of the top 100 movies of all time!

Easily.

Are you just stating this, or are you quoting a list? Here’s one list it’s on, the list that is at the core of my own film “education.”

Definitely my favorite Altman (RIP), one of my favorite westerns ever, and my favorite Warren Beatty performance. Magnificent photography by Vilmos Zsigmond and terrific use of Leonard Cohen, too. Deadwood owes more to this movie than anyone ever seems to mention.

I suspect I’ll be revisiting this DVD very soon.

Like # 46 on that list A Clockwork Orange! Annie Hall does not deserve to infest that list! at 12 years old I cried at the End of McCabe & Mrs.Miller (All time greatest scenes of True Love lost)! Every time I see it Tears well up…

I really

Oh, no no no no NO. You’re looking at the wrong list. The list on the left is the CRAP that the article is in response to; the list on the right is the right list. Please read the article in the link, not just the WRONG list on the left.

A good film, but Altman has done better.

I would question any list that includes The Magnificent Ambersons and omits Citizen Kane. Ambersons was butchered by Robert Wise, and is possibly Wells’s weakest film. Touch of Evil rises above “Ambersons” for instance.

I don’t agree. If I could only watch one Welles film over and over, it would be Ambersons. It may be a ghost of what the uncut version was, but it’s still brilliant in its own right (and I would take Chimes at Midnight over Kane or Touch, too).

Again, please RTFA. The list on the left is the AFI list (ptui); the list on the right is the “alternate,” or “complementary” list; it does not disavow the first list, it supplements it.

RTFA.

Just wanted to chime in and profess my love for McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

Great Altman film, great western, great performances, great mood, great music. Everything.
