I really, really, really hope this forks Mr. McCain for good. The world cannot afford another inept American president. If you guys could keep your troubles at home, the rest of us would shut up; but as it is, we suffer just the same as you and we don’t even get to vote.

Mr. Obama at least has the sense not to start blathering and then have to back-pedal. He appears to be thoughtful, and maybe even willing to listen and learn before he makes a move.

All those who think that McCain and Obama should be back in washington demonstrating how well they can ‘reach across the aisle’, ask yourself this: how many Republicans want to contribute to the headline “Obama Leads Coalition in Fixing the Economy”? They’d chew their own arm off first! And the Democrats would be no better. If either of them went to washington and actually tried to influence legislation it would polarize the issue - and if both of them went both sides would dig in break out the cannons!

Maybe that’s exactly what we need.

Seems to me what you think of this move entirely depends on:

1. How bad you think the economy is doing, and

2. What you think of the bailout as it stands now.

Since many conservatives oppose the current bailout plan, if McCain is going back to lend his voice in support of it, it might end up being a wash.

They are trying to put the fear of Jesus into the electorate so that they can grab that last bit of cash on the way out the door.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe I’m the only one who thinks that this is a very serious thing that’s going on…seems that way sometimes. And that at this moment the most important thing for the government (Dems AND 'Pubs) to be doing is figuring out what the fuck needs to be done and doing it fast before the whole things goes tits up.

My respect for McCain has gone up a notch, whether this is a ‘scam’ or not (frankly, I don’t see why it would be…it’s only the Obama faithful who think it’s a slam dunk that he will wipe the floor with McCain…as Biden will with Palin).

I am kind of flabbergasted by the Couric interview. She is as believable as a VP as Denise Richards was as a physicist in that crappy James Bond movie.
