McCain wins in 08; Obama or Hillary (or other) in 2012?

that’s an urban legand. the gop won fairly in 2000 and 2004. if people want to believe otherwise to justify their irrational rage over the entire scenario with the hanging chads, let them.

I just think that the Democrats are too engaged in this election… never before have we witnessed such an intense primary. The dems are on fire… nothing is getting in their way. I’m just saying. If the republicans win this year, I’ll be so floored that I’ll never assume anything ever again.

Keep in mind Barack will be up for re-election to Senate in 2010 if he isn’t elected President. He would basically end up campagning for 6 years straight (2006-2012) by that time.

I doubt he’s going to face serious opposition, though.

What alternate universe do you live in where Barack Obama talks like that?

The Obamas have already said this is a one time thing. If he doesn’t win, they’re done trying. I believe them. I also think it’s moot because Obama’s going to win.

I’ll be shocked if Obama doesn’t win. If he manages to snatch defeat from the slavering jaws of victory (or, if the Obama faithful and the loony fringe of the Dem party manage to lose the election FOR him) the he will be done wrt the Presidency. Even if he wanted to run again I don’t think he’d be able to build to where he is at today. As for Hillary…put a fork in her, she is done.

No, if the Dems lose this time they will have to find someone else to lose for them in 4 years.

If we manage to lose this one we might as well dissolve the party and reorganize as Whigs or Federalists or something.

[ETA: Chads aside,] There is nothing irrational about being enraged that GWB has been president since 2001. This is not a controversial or arguable statement.

If Obama loses he’s a total wash out. He has done nothing but run for president since he got elected to the Senate, and the people of Illinois love him but if he loses there is gonna be a huge backlash that he spent 2 year NOT doing his job.

If he loses he won’t run in 2012 because he’d be thought of as a loser who can’t win. Hillary is already planning for this. WHY do you think she stood in the race. She thiinks Obama will lose, this leaves her the choice in 2012 and the Clintons REMEMBER who crosses them and every Democratic candidate who tossed her aside for the upstart Obama will be on her S-List.

For a man who is only running because Oprah thought he was cute, he has a lot riding on this and more important it goes to show you the REAL power Oprah has over America. She singlehandedly put him in the Nomination and if he wins SHE put him there.

Well, I’m sure that Oprah will come up with another candidate for 2012. Why don’t you just let her do her job?

I doubt it. Obama could easily be elected to a second Senate term if he wanted it. If for no other reason than a lack of credible Republican opposition in Illinois. I mean, c’mon… Steve Sauerburg?

I’d almost suggest that he could take the governor’s seat in 2010 except that I don’t have any real reason to suspect that he’d want it and I do suspect that Lisa Madigan may go for it and I wouldn’t feel confident placing my money on Obama in an Obama/Madigan primary for the mansion.

It hasn’t so far. But that is my point - if Obama is going to bitch and moan about non-existent election fraud in 2009 the way a lot of liberal morons did in 2001-2008, then he will be seen as a whiny, immature little bitch, and not Presidential material.

I mean, fun’s fun, but there comes a time where serious people have to behave seriously. Pissing and moaning and stamping one’s little feet when you lose isn’t behaving seriously.

There wasn’t any election fraud in 2004. I realize you can’t accept that, but after a certain point most people realize that conspiracy theories are not a good basis for a political campaign. If Obama has the sense to realize that, fine, but if not, compare how Nixon reacted in 1960 as compared to how Gore did in 2000. And keep in mind what happened eight years later in both cases.

Shodan

When did either Gore or Kerry “bitch and whine” about election fraud?

Do you live in Illinois? I don’t, although I did when he was elected, and I am confident he is still wildly popular there.

Oh, bullshit. Did you actually read, or even look at the article? Kenneth Blackwell, who was Bush campaign chair for Ohio, was the same person in charge of overseeing the election, and also co-authored a book with Jerome Corsi, noted conservative hack. Blackwell disqualified hundreds of voter registration forms that had been collected over the months before the election, just weeks before the election, because the forms were not on the right weight paper, a regulation he pulled out of his ass. How many suburban and rural, likely Republican voters, had to wait more than 15 or 45 minutes to vote? Would you wait more than an hour to vote? Yet, many people in Cleveland and Toledo (and Detroit and even Grand Rapids) waited up to eleven hours. After court ruling after court ruling went against him, Blackwell even compared himself to Gandhi, St. Paul, and MLK!

I was skeptical of fraud claims in '04, too. Surely after the Florida disaster of '00, there would be measures taken to ensure a fair election. But after reading this well sourced article (208 citations), I’m pretty sure we should be talking about Kerry’s re-election chances. Too bad he was such a pussy.

Obama doesn’t bitch or moan about much. Not that I have seen. Also, I’m the furthest thing you will find in terms of a conspiracy theorist - but even I don’t think the 04’ and 00’ elections were completely on the up and up. That’s beside the point, Obama is not going to have to bitch about anything except maybe how the staff are treating his little girls when he is comfortably in the white house.

You must be the only person in the continental US who never heard the expression “Sore-Loserman”.

Actually I never heard that term before either (I was under a rock). It’s still pretty funny though.

Gore had the gall to actually want the votes counted in Florida. The GOP sent thugs with “Sore-Loserman” signs to Florida to pose as protesters and harass and intimidate election workers.

It’s childish to deny that the 2000 election was stolen. That’s pretty much a proven fact.

Considering the disdain with which science is treated by the GOP, is it any wonder that history is as well?
