Just saw “Me before You” last night and really enjoyed it. It only took me a few minutes to stop thinking “Khaleesi”. 
I don’t quite understand the title, though. It can be taken several ways, but none of them really seem to fit: “me standing before you”, “me before I met you”, “I think of myself first, not you”, etc.
Does anyone have any insight into what the title means?
Also, since I didn’t see a thread on this yet, we can use this thread for a general discussion of the movie.

Huh! I hadn’t thought of that meaning.
I liked it. Not ashamed to say I cried a couple of times. Didn’t read the book and came in unspoiled, so I was surprised that the lead man stuck to his decision. 
I puzzled on the title. Before seeing the movie, I presumed it meant “putting my interests before yours.” But nobody in the movie was selfish.* Clearly, she put him before her. While he gave her the cold-shoulder initially, it wasn’t because he put “me before you” personally but that he had given up on life altogether.
It struck me a couple of days later that the title meant “how I (her) was before I met you (him).” Once he opened up to her, it was clear his goal was to broaden her horizons and have her realize her potential. I knew as soon as he met with the estate-planning attorney that he was changing his will, etc., to give her his money or at least a big chunk of it.
It just struck me as I typed this :smack: that it could also, simultaneously, mean “how I (him) was before I met you (her).” She got him out of his shell and brought life, not just survival, to his remaining time.
*With the possible exception of her boyfriend.
I’ve not seen it but the first time I saw the title and read a little bit on what it’s about I thought it meant “I hope I die before you” but after seeing the trailer I thought the same as John Bredin; it’s about how her life was before she met him.
I discarded that interpretation (“I hope I die before you”) after seeing the movie. The title might apply to the book, but the movie only shows about 1 - 2 minutes of her life before meeting him. (The previews are deceptive.) So there wasn’t any description of what her life was like before him. Perhaps it’s different in the book, making the title apropos.

It’s deliberately opaque – but I think of it as referring to each of them: It’s “who I was before I met you”.
IMHO, we see and hear enough about her life before him that we know it wasn’t objectively bad (she’s got a loving family, they live in a house, etc.) but it was “small” in that she hasn’t done much or seen much. She didn’t go to university though she had planned to, she didn’t know what pesto was :), etc.
Which reminds me: the “one sib goes to university, the other stays home for the family” scene reminded me of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
