Meaning of colitas

Enough of these distractions. By and by a denizen of soc.culture.spain wrote: “Colitas is little tails, but here the author is referring to ‘colas,’ the tip of a marijuana branch, where it is more potent and with more sap (said to be the best part of the leaves).” We knew with an instant shock of certainty that this was the correct interpretation. The Eagles, with the prescience given only to true artists, were touting the virtues of high-quality industrial hemp! And to think some people thought this song was about drugs.

I just wanted to clear some things up. The tip he is reffering to is probably and more correctly reffered to as buds, or flowers, where the resin is produced. Its not necessarily the tip of the plant. And its not sap that is on the buds or leaves. And there is no best part of leaves. Since the bud can get quite resinous, sometimes the resin will drip to the leaves below and that is why some people make hashish from the leaves just below the buds. Its a way of not letting it go to waste. Thanks.

“Colitas is little tails,” eh? Well, if you also catch a whiff of the warm smell of snips and snails (with a hint of grass stains and mud,) there’s a good chance somebody’s cooking up a batch of little boys. That’s what the old folklore says, anyway.
