Meaning of obscure internet catchphrase

Doh!

The goofy translations are due to a technical limitation.

The game originally was in Japanese. Typically, a Japanese sentence is shorter than English, so when they do the translation, there is not enough room for the proper English sentences so they shave out the, uh, unnecessary words.

I am giving them the benefit of the doubt so that they knew what they were doing, though

It’s a trap!
What’s “when come back, bring pie” from? Weebl and Bob, I think?

Nah, my aunt Hazel really likes pie and she always tells uncle Bob to grab a pie on his way home. A lot of people respond to that with “Bob’s your uncle?”

Somebody set up us a book , too. All your answers are there.

Heh. Loved the link, Zelmph(!). I see they messed up the “set up us the bomb” quote too.

Yes. See Weebl and Bob.

Gary Larson would probably sue me for this.

That was my bad.

I was the guy who made the weird song that goes along with the video (http://www.mp3.com/tlmom if you’d like to get the MP3). When entering the opening dialogue into a text-to-speech program to do the voices at the beginning, I mistyped the “Somebody/Someone…” line.

Nobody seemed to notice this for several months.

It’s hard to belive how long it’s been since thes silly phrase started…

… then Foxtrot got into the act. I wish I would have saved the comics section of the Dallas Morning News from that day.

The best I could do was to change the splash screen for our Oracle Applications.
