Medical question (general)

Mononucleosis. I’m trying to find out roughly how long this remains contagious after initial symptoms appear and how long it generally lasts.
Does anyone know?

P.S. I’m wondering whether I need to flee from my daughter

You’re daughter?? What state do you live in?

I’m almost positive this virus is only conatgious through saliva. If you’re not getting that close to her, you should be fine.
Also, you’ve probably been exposed to mono at some point in your life, you just never had symptons. So you’re likely immune to the virus anyway.

Just don’t kiss her good night and you’ll be fine.

Thanks for that. We’re going to the doc tomorrow but I’m never sure if the guy I’m seeing is any good. They have a serious shortage of good GPs over here. OBTW, I’m in Riyadh Saudi Arabia.
It’s good to hear it isn’t super contagious like some kind of plague. Anyway, we’ve got to see a doc but the symptoms sure fit; tender spleen, slight rash, fever, sore throat, and major tiredness.
The reason I was aking was really because of my wife. She is away for a few weeks but has a depressed immune system from chemo. I was trying to find when it would be safe for her to return.

Thanks again

Ahh. I should have paid more attention to ‘location’, instead of making a kissing-your-daughter joke.

Here is some real good information on the virus.

Thanks again. That site just about confirmed it. We’ll go see a doc tomorrow and try to make it official.
