Yes, because it’s not all that I do here.
Well, also that was a joke. It also referenced the Simpsons, but only a little bit (say…at a ratio of .02), so that’s what you have to do to be accepted around here. It’s awfully precise, but there you go.
I concur with everything in this post.
I thought this thread would be over by now.
Hey, c’mon, that’s a little harsh, surely. Let me take a look at his posts. . . .
Never mind.
Me neither. Seems we do have something in common, after all.
It really does. Congratulation, keep it up.
No, I didn’t, I still maintain that it’s a bit too elaborate to have been just made up on the spot, however.
And as for disbeliving now, would you still admit to “seeing ghosts” if you had the outcry that has been put forth in this topic?
In any case, we seem to be in agreement over not believing it.
I don’t believe she made it up on the spot either. The possibilities are endless; a number of variations on Dios 2 cases from the OP have been suggested by posters in this thread…
I would say that meenie got some cheerleading as well as some detractors in this thread. In either case she certainly got some attention and stired things up.
However that all happened after she made here original claims in another forum, and a persons strategy for dealing with (perhaps) unintended consequences after the fact is dependent on her personality and her character.
Neurological disease, delusion, malicious deception, harmless fun, book project, personal mythology, who knows. Meenies the only person in a position to know for sure.
I outlined my 2 cent on the subject in earlier posts.
Yes we are
Oh yeah?
What other contributions do you make other than capitalizing random words and using lots of exclamation points?
Not that I’m a big Brian Ekers fan, but he makes coherent remarks on an almost regular basis.
It depends how you define ‘contributions’? Obviously you’ll have read all my 801 posts, analysed them for content, and taken into account the responses they have generated, but at the end of the day, it’s all a little subjective, isn’t it? If you are just talking about witty one-liners, I’m sure I’d give him a run for his money. If you are talking about SD ‘traffic’ generated, ie. views and responses, I’m already kicking his ass, if that’s the competition we are having. Seeing as you are not a fan of his or myself, can we rely on you popping in to referee all our future conflicts?
Gee, I’m winning a silver medal in an event I didn’t even know I’d entered.
Well, at least I’ve given you something to aim for.
Now don’t you want to go and defend your honour in the doggy thread?
My honour is not endangered in (or even relevant to) the dog thread. And I’m not in competition with you on this board, except in the larger sense that I’m in “competition” with all its users to be known for having a quick wit and reliably intelligent opinions and thus emulate Cecil Adams himself.
As an incidental note, it’s this competition that makes the board interesting for me because it selects for people who are clever and funny, as opposed to other entertainment boards that reward the relentless use of catch-phrases or childish insults or frenetic posting.
Yeah? Then explain why I, with my slow wit and reliably confused and flexible opinions, am still here. It’s as if the dodo survived despite the competition.
What can I say? You found a niche.
If you are referring to me in that latter group, I’ll confess to the odd playground insult - I call it keeping in touch with my inner-child, but I don’t have any catch-phrases, and I’d need a far better definition of ‘frenetic posting’ to comment on that. Is it making 17 posts a day, as opposed to 7, for instance? Perhaps the mods could do something about putting a cap on the amount of posts each member can make? I realise some people might wish that figure was less than one in my case, but there is a simple solution. Don’t go in my threads, and ignore my posts.
You got me there. I wish I had the time to evaluate all of your posts but, gee, I got work to do and that sort of boring shit. The things I pointed out are what sticks out in my mind, and as a former enforcer for cyrstal cooks, I gave your posts more attention than they probably deserved.
To be frank and honest with you, you are coming off as kind of a spaz. As far as the responses you have generated, well, trolls seem to do well here, and to be honest, I have been accused, more than once, of being one myself.
Please don’t allow me expressing my feelings as a vote as you being troll. As I had only dealt with people in real life before I got here, It was tough getting the feel of dealing with people on line.
I feel you are fitting in just fine. If nothing more for the entertainment value alone. The same old shit gets boring after a while.
Oh and any attempts to “referee” any of BE 's posts, will only draw more negative attention to yourself.
Sorry BE , that I misspelled your handle. You know I respect you. I’ll bet your not as harsh in real life, but even here balls count for a lot.
Well, I wasn’t referring to a group per se, but rather entire message boards where the most prolific posters are very much like, not to put too fine a point on it, you.
This post covers my feelings on the subject fairly well, I think, particularly the last point in the list.
In any case, I don’t want to discuss this further in this thread - it’s too far off-topic and if the original topic has truly been played out, this thread should be allowed to fade away.
Additional note: no sweat, Omega, and thanks.
Fair do’s.
That’s the nicest thing that anyone’s said about me since I’ve been here.
I’m in good company then? That’s a relief.
I know. I’m still working on it after a year.
Glad to be of service.
It was meant to come across jokingly; lord forbid, that’s the last thing I need.
Certainly true - but ‘because she might get hit by a bus tomorrow’ is not a good reason to avoid having it checked out.
