Meet the Beedle: Amazon.com purchases Rowling's rare book

Amazon.com Inc. is now the official owner of one of seven copies of Tales of Beedle the Bard, the handwritten fairy-tale book created as a special gift by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. The company purchased the book at auction for $4 million. Information about the book- including photographs and reviews of the short stories (a new one to come every so often) are at Amazon.com: fd_redirect.

Wowza, you have to be pretty dedicated to handwrite 150+ pages in duplicate seven times!

I wonder if she did it just for the sake of the charity.

I’d do it for four million dollars.
(either to me, or to a worthwhile charity)

The other six copies were meant as special gifts for her closest friends. The inscription on this copy reads these people were integral to the creation and production Harry Potter franchise. The book is based on a book which appears in the last Harry Potter book.

Well, considering that she wrote the entire Harry Potter series in longhand, 150 pages x 7 doesn’t sound like so much of a chore.
