What do you think? I think it’s great fun. I love the genie in the bottle feature. The sexy looking female outfits are cool cool cool. (And yes, i’m a hetero female.) Totally dig the idea of having a robot, but haven’t purchased one yet.
The “bad” parts, IMO? Everything centers around money- you get friends so that you can move up career wise, you do certain activities to get more work related things (cooking, mechanics, etc)…then again, the real world is very materialistic too. Also sometimes the characters seem a bit flat…sometimes, that is.
Overall, though, I love it and have started playing a lot, again, your comments and ideas?
I played The Sims obsessively when I first got it. I really loved it. I like building odd houses.
I don’t play it very much now. I got tired of having the same furniture all the time. I chose not to buy Livin’ Large because it didn’t have much that I wanted. I visit the fan sites occasionally and download something new, but I seldom play.
Overall I think it’s a great game. I just think I’m ready for the next version. I’m ready have the characters actually go to work.
As far as good and bad things about the game - I love how easy it is to get a job! “Oh, I got fired. I’ll just pick up this paper and immediately get a new job.”
On the downside, you spend a lot of time telling people to go to the toilet. The first day I played this I thought, “I payed money to watch cartoons go to the bathroom?” And I get mad when Sims pee on the floor. Especially guests! Actually, sometimes it’s pretty funny. But it’s still pretty weird. I would hate to be the maid!
There was a thread about this a while back when Livin’ Large came out. If I recall correctly, there are many players on the boards- I’ll see if I can find the old thread.
I played “Livin’ Large” last night, in fact. I have a woman (Zette) who is desparately trying to propose to a man she loves (Allan). She lives in a mansion decorated with animal skin rugs (faux), a head in a jar, funky lights, a pool, jaccuzi- everything a girl could want.
One thing I’ve learned- before you mess around with the genie in the bottle, SAVE YOUR GAME! He often screws up and gives you bad things that you’ll want to reverse. Also, DO NOT buy the tragic clown painting. I did, and when my family member died, he followed me around night and day sobbing. He kept me awake and generally drove me crazy. You can’t kill him, either- not even in the pool!
I eventually had to evict the girl from the clown infested house and start her all over. Grrrrr!
