meeting new people in odd places

Has anyone here ever met someone new while watching a movie in the theater, then dated them or became good friends afterwards??

Seems to me, like an odd place to me to meet a stranger, since you’re supposed to be quiet and watching the film, but it also seems somewhat plausible.

I go to the movies at least once a week, and this has never happened to me yet, although someday it may, who knows.

Dang, those run-on sentences are a pain. Sorry :o

I meet new people all the time at shows, but I suppose since that’s a social place, it’s not weird or anything.

I have a good friend I met in the arcade of Busch Gardens. I guess that constitutes as a weird place.

Who initiated conversation (on average)? You or them?

I am guessing it may be a split. If the others are initiating, I wonder why I never meet anyone at the movies. Hmmm.

Maybe, I should just plop down next to a couple of hotties next time and see what happens.

Just to clarify, I meant my OP in the context of, literally while you’re wacthing the movie. Not while mulling around in the lobby, at concession, or the john.

BTW: I think the Bathroom is HORRIBLE place to strike up a conversation with someone. I can’t stand it when I’m taking a whizz, suddenly some dude at the next urinal starts babbling away to me. It’s very uncomfortable. If stranger wants to chat at me in the RR, at least wait til each of us is washing up at the sink.

Stranger: "SO, how about those Fighting Irish? Great game huh?
Self: aloud “Uhhhh, yeah sure” / silently thinking “shut the hell up man, I’m trying to piss!”

Well, pretty often I meet up with someone who’s already a friend of one of my friends. But generally it starts as “Hey, whats up?”. Then we talk some through the night.

I can’t really say about what to do during a movie, since I’m pretty sure most pople would get rather pissed if you started a conversation with them during a movie.

The last woman I dated I met on an airplane. Probably not the strangest place to meet someone…but minutes before I boarded the plane, I’d been thinking to myself, “Why don’t I ever sit next to any nice women on airplanes?”

Strangest-place-to-meet-future-SO award: A guy I knew at Oxford met his girlfriend while they were at a house party. They were both vomiting in the bushes behind the house when they first saw each other. How romantic :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn damn damn!

I could have had my first odd meeting place experience tonight!

I was driving back from returning a video to the vid store. I saw in my mirror, that the car behind me had two really hot looking college chicks inside and they seemed to be having a lot of fun. They appeared to be singing along with the radio and much giggling and smiling was happening.

They were directly behind me for the next couple of traffic lights. I kept thinking to myself, “Damn, they are cute. They look like fun too. I’d sure like to hook up with them!”

About the fourth light I came to, they pulled up along side of me!! I think they had seen me watching them in my mirror. I smiled at them and they smiled at me and they honked the horn and bounced around in their seats. They were flirting with me!

WHY OH WHY in Heavens name didnt I roll the window down! :o

arrrrrrgh!

They proceeded to pass me, still honking and waving at me, then vanished forver.

I am an IDIOT!

I’ve met people at the plasma center. One of my friends, we met before, but became better friends after seeing each other in the waiting room of the plasma center. That, and he gave me a ride back home. The workers at the plasma center also recognize me and know my name. I don’t know if that last part is good or not.

Met a guy at a gas station while pumping gas. We dated for a while. He had a very nice Porsche. But not much in the brains dept.
