Megadeth angry at United Nations ?

According to this article, a heavy metal band, I’m sure not well known for their intellecutal prowess…is angry with the United Nations, and is calling them an “Abomination” for being, among other things, uncool.

  1. Do you have to have an IQ of 20 or lower before you can make the news these days?
  2. Is Megadeth siding with George Bush? Not exactly a match I would have seen coming, although now that I think about it, George’s policies have resulted in mega death, so perhaps there is a link?

just a thought.

This might have been news back in '86 when they used a bombed out version of the UN building on the cover of Peace Sells, but I don’t know why 20 years later the same idea would be.

Actually, Dave Mustaine has a long history of expressing political opinions in his music, and Megadeth is probably one of the more politically-aware bands around today. I can’t say I agree with his politics, but even if he is an asshole, the guy is no dummy.

Until the CNN article, I didn’t realize that Megadeth was even still together, much less planning on releasing a new album on a new label.

Not only are his puns clever, his marketing strategy is up there, too.
