Megan Kelly wtf?

I’m confused about how all this happened to begin with - I’ve heard that she wants to become the next Barbara Walters, but I find it hard to believe that anyone (except Kelly herself, perhaps) thinks she’s capable of that.

FOX: We distort, you comply.

She spent 13 years on FOX spewing their bullshit and now somehow she thinks she is capable of being perceived as warm and receptive? :dubious:

If you compare her to Bill O’Reilly, she has a chance.

Oh wait … I don’t have that quite right. She says wants to be the next Oprah! Pulled from that article:

That’s the part I was remembering about Barbara Walters.

The confusing part for me is not that she is under some delusion she can do that. It’s that NBC seems to think she can.

Apparently she also muffed a promo interview with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda for their new Netflix movie by ignoring the movie completely and asking Jane about her plastic surgery. Jane was dumbfounded and tried to prod her back into the commercial track.

Didn’t she trash-compact and dispose of her self-respect the day she gave that [del]interview[/del] manual stimulation to DT last year?

She tried the “it was an act” excuse to wave away her history with Fox but, as with all of the others who have tried that, it’s a lie. She’s an awful person. By all accounts she always has been. She doesn’t know how to relate to people in any way except antagonistically.

Whoever at NBC decided to hire her and put her on their flagship morning program should be fired and NBC should admit their mistake and fire Kelly, too. People who watch the morning programs want lightweight entertainment. Kelly can’t deliver that. She’s not likable. At all.

As a lawyer, I am outraged by the implication that I made a conscious choice to become an attorney. I was born this way, you thoughtless bitch! Yes, I’m totally kidding. No, I don’t think sexual orientation is a choice, and I think anyone who does is repressing something. I certainly didn’t choose to be straight, though to be fair it was a good career move.

OK, she did a good job throwing a hard question to Donald in the debate. Other than that, she’s your typical Fox bimbo. Why NBC is so heavily invested in her and promoting her more than they promoted anyone since Susan Anton is a mystery.

I don’t think she actually believes it’s a choice, but she does think it’s something funny to joke about, which is just a different type of animus and cluelessness. Good riddance to a mean, unlikable person when she is inevitable canned.

I tend to have the TV on in the background when doing chores around the house. Megan Kelly’s show is getting to be one of those things you watch to say “did she really just say that?” and watch it circle the drain. I really don’t expect this to last. She comes across as uninformed, clueless, and tactless. They’re trying to do human interest stories with someone who can’t relate to other humans.

Actually, I think the best description is:

“You decide, we report.”

Its not clear to me that Fox news is really leading its viewers. Instead I think Fox News is being led by its viewers to report news that reinforces the beliefs that all of its viewers had already decided was true. Which unfortunately creates a feedback loop that ends in crazy town.

In fact they could probably get away with the following accurate slogan, of “Fox news: We give you the news you want.” so long as they left “not the news that’s true” unsaid.

I expect she thinks that having played the sexual harassment “victim card”, “The Left” will now fall all over themselves to make her a Hero and shower her in sweet, sweet, Soros-money.

She may not realize but “it was an act” makes her look even worse. It’s one thing to be honestly horrible, but quite another to be dishonestly horrible. (Isn’t she the one who assured us Jesus was white?)

Aye; it’s in the video montage that was linked earlier.

Pithier: Fox News: The News You Want.
More circumlocutious: Fox News: All the News You Ever Want.

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard slogans like these for local TV news.

Much, much less pithy:
Fox News: The News that Lets You Feel Comfortable and Righteous, Which, Let’s Face It, is a Lot More Pleasant Than Feeling Challenged or Uncertain.

Megyn’s awesome week continued today with a camera man stepping into the shot and blocking Carli Lloyd, before audibly saying “shit” and ducking away. At least Megyn refrained from a Christian Bale-like rant against the lowly peon, so maybe this “softer side” is taking hold? (Carli’s reaction is great.)

When the News Breaks, We Fix It! (to suit your beliefs).
