I was looking to buy a Taser today so I went over to the web site. Don’t bother; the “civilian” model is on an eight-week wait. But the big news is that the Taser people are merging with iRobot, who makes the little floor-cleaning robots. No word on why exactly.
New batteries? Certain software? Economies of scale? Perhaps; I am hoping for new ways to harass the cat however.

i think it will make an excellent home security system. while you are out, your roomba will hoover your floor and taser any intruders. or while you are sleeping scooba is scrubbing your floors and tasers home invaders.

IRobot is based in Massachusetts, where tasers are illegal. Wonder how they’ll do demos to investors.
And imagine the stories we’d have from people with cats. There are already several entertaining threads about Roombas and cats. It’d be somewhere between hilarious and tragic, depending on the damage done to the animal.
