His being already married when they met has nothing to do with this. She should have been expecting that he’d cheat on her, not beat her.

I’ve known loud mouths my entire life.
I’ve had guys get in my face. Threaten to beat my ass. Even had one asshole threaten to burn my house.
Usually the loud mouths are just that. All bluster. They don’t have the balls to back it up.
Well usually they are all talk. 
I did have to fight one of those guys years ago. I never enjoyed fights. Sometimes you can’t avoid them.
I personally think Mel is a loud mouth jerk. He was blowing off steam. It’s macho posturing bull crap. Guys do that sort of thing.
All this terrorist threatening stuff is silly. If Mel was dangerous he would have killed this woman months and months ago.

I don’t care how she might have “led” him - no one could be led that way who wasn’t inclined in the first place.

The quiet guys are the ones that are dangerous. They are the ones that mean business.
He should be prosecuted for that. If there’s proof I’m sure charges will be filed.
He’s my favorite actor, and I like him even more now. Not only is his performance in The Patriot one of the best ever, now he’s fighting Communism too! You go, Mel.
Here’s the thing, I’ve never heard of a situation in court where the judge tells anyone that they must stretch their mind to the limits of absurdity. Hell, even in murder cases it isn’t NO doubt. It’s REASONABLE doubt. Reasonable does not equal stretching your mind to the limits of absurdity.
IMHO you are just caught up in arguing with Dio about this and do not want to back down. A reasonable person can see that “You deserved it” means “You bet I did and you had it coming.”
I don’t think the issue is whether he agrees Mel did, or did not do it, the issue is whether it’s provable in court via the recording. Given Gibsons ranting it’s not beyond imagining he could have done (or did) many violent things if he got himself sufficiently worked up.
Seriously? I’ve never heard anything even close to that bad. I stopped it at 3 minutes–if I’d seen a character acting that way on a movie, I would have thought it over-the-top and unrealistic. It blows my mind that anyone could sustain that level of vitriol for 8+ minutes.
As epic as you think that rant is some people have to deal with people who are that bad and worse every day of their lives. It defines some people’s everyday existence to terrorize other people. I am surprised by how relatively sheltered some people are in thinking this is as bad as it gets. It can get worse. Much worse.
