Melanie Oesch, Swiss singer and yodeler

Some time back, I discovered Melanie Oesch and her family on YouTube. They are a musical family who specialize in traditional Swiss folk music. Melanie is the lead singer, and is quite possibly the best yodeler I’ve ever heard–certainly one of the best three.

Here’s an English-language family biography.

Being Swiss, they typically sing in German. I don’t know German, but I enjoy their music. Here are some examples.

This one is considerably longer.
They have done a little in English. This one is a major change of pace, but they do quite well.
I would be interested in knowing if any German or Swiss Dopers have heard this family or attended a concert.

C’mon, people – I can’t be the only Doper who likes yodeling!

I like yodeling too but I don’t know any yodeling artists by name and don’t own a single yodeling song. Thanks for the links!

Damn, she good! Now I need a beer.

I found Melanie Oesch through a SD connection to Taylor Ware, and like the sound. Also Lisa Stoll - who knew a hollow tree could make that music!

This is pretty interesting - completely new to me.

My honest opinion is this:

As I was watching the first video you linked to I could not get the thought out of my mind of how the yodeling reminded me of bad porn.

What a beautiful voice!
