I am seriously thinking of moving to Florida in the Melborne area and I was wondering if any of you have a suggestion as to what areas to look. I am a white, almost middle aged woman with 2 kids in High School. I would like to live somewhere that is relatively crime free and I know that statistics aren’t always accurate. If you could define either nice areas or areas to stay away from I would genuinely appreciate it. It should be within 30 minutes of Melbourne.
Thank you so much. I hate flying blind and buying a house is a seriously scary proposition for a single mother. This is my first house (the one I am selling) and I would hate to throw away what I have fought so hard to keep.

My friend lives in Palm Bay. From what I’ve seen and heard, there’s not much crime around that area. I lived with said friend for about a year, and hadn’t seen much crime. There was a few nights when we lingered outside his townhouse community (his AC broke down on more than one occasion) and had a person or two approach us and ask if we knew where they could score some pot, but that was about it. None of these people looked threatening, a little cluless, but no one that would try and harm you. Very little crime is heard of…as a matter of fact, very little is heard of. If you ask me, Palm Bay and Melbourne are pretty boring. I’d suggest you to make sure your kids have something to do while your not home because they’re likley to be miles away from anyplace worth walking to, or at least teach them to drive.
