Memorable Movie/TV Scenes

Example: that last shot in Shane when he’s heading up the mountainside with is arm dangling at his side and you can’t tell if he’s going off to die or just what…

Others?

I linked to this one not long ago in another thread: The Getaway: McQueen and MacGraw: End of the Movie

And, for the flipside: Indiana Jones, gunning down the swordsman.

Based on the number of youtube clips I found of it, I’m clearly not the only person who likes Steve McQueen’s motorcycle jump in The Great Escape.

Giant (1956) - James Dean Strikes Oil – 55 years old and still fresh in my memory.

I enjoyed seeing that again. I ran that movie first run back when there was a projectionist actually in the booth the whole time, so I saw it many times. All these years later it’s still pretty good. Don’t quite understand why Doc says to Slim Pickens, “I hope you find what you’re looking for.” since Pickens has just pretty told him he has what he wants.

Luke … I am your father!

You shall not pass!

The Binary Sunset in Star Wars, this simple scene has more heart and feeling than all the CGI in the universe.

I also ran a projector for a little while in high school. And I agree with your comment about that particular line. Perhaps Doc is wishing that for himself? Did you care much for the Baldwin remake?

And wasn’t a visual effect, either. That’s the part that blew me away!

The Best Death Scene: Rollo Tomasi (L.A. Confidential) spoilers

Second Best: Vangelis - Tears in rain - Blade Runner HD

That’s a good thought about Doc. I didn’t see the Baldwin remake. Did you? Do you recommend it?

It was weak by comparison and I really like Baldwin and Basinger as actors. There was just no good reason to tamper with the job McQueen and MacGraw (and Peckinpah) had done. I do NOT recommend it if you liked the original.

Keeping up with a common theme, the match-to-sunrise transition scene in Lawrence of Arabia. After looking at the two, I think it’s evident Lucas was paying homage to it.

Hi. I wish to respond to this thead. Can we swear in here?? I don’t swear, but the movie quote does. The movie is called ‘Closer’ with Julia Roberts. The man tells her to ‘F**k off and die.’

sad flower.

A link to the clip with an NSFW warning should be fine.

I am new here. I do not understand what NSFW is? Also, I did register. I know I did it properly because it does say ‘sad flower.’ So why am I a ‘guest?’ Am I a guest because I posted in an errant forum before? Will I be a member on this forum or the other one? Thanks if you can help.

John Wayne in shadow, standing in the doorway at the end of ‘The Searchers.’

Norma Desmond’s ‘all you little people out there in the dark,’ speech near the end of ‘Sunset Blvd.’

“Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!” ‘Planet of the Apes,’ 1968. I saw that movie in the theater. That line provoked a standing ovation from the audience.
