Memorial Bricks

So with my annual check to one of my preferred charities, I get the option of getting a memorial brick out front. The amount was pretty minimal - $100 - so I don’t feel a huge commitment to take this entirely seriously. The wife actually suggested putting in the names of our dogs, which fits nicely into the 26 allowed characters.

I’m tempted to go with that, or the default “The Munchs”. I cannot possibly imagine any of the Teeming Millions has any strong opinions on this subject, but in the event someone wrote their doctorate on “Proper Naming Protocol on Memorial Monuments”, feel free to weigh in here.

My brain says you should be able to put whatever you want on it. But my gut says it depends on context. So if you put “Fido and Skippy” on a brick to a park I’d say sounds good. But if it was on a brick at the burn ward or something it would seem wrong.

Nelson Mandela, but I bet they are getting a lot of those this week.

How about: The American Dream; RIP

or: My Waistline

My church had these after a renovation. It had to be the name of a dead person as a memorial. No dog names please. (Yes, I would have paid for one for my dead dog, but I respected my church’s intent to memorialize former members.)

Not mine; it’d requires too many bricks.

Like, um, Jesus of Nazareth?

Can’t use that one, he’s not dead. :stuck_out_tongue:

There are memorial bricks at our local dog park. Most just have the dog’s name and family. The one I like best though says “LUCA’S BRICK, DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT PEEING HERE!”
