To those (women only please) who’ve gone through menopause, what are some of the symptoms? Myself, I’m 49, yet still on the pill (the gyno said if you stay on the pill you won’t go through menopause, but would eventually be taken off of it).
Lately, I’ve been awfully moddy which I have never been before, no hot flashes or anything or night problems. Just curious.
Change that to moody . I am not now, nor ever have been, a member of the moderator party.
There is a ton of resources available. Just go to google or yahoo and query “menopause.” Here is just one. And of course, you can always discuss this with your doctor when you go for your annual checkup and mammogram.
It kinda sneaks up on you. I wasn’t on the pill when I started so I have no idea if it has that effect, but it was a long process the culimated in temporary insanity and a body temperature of 168 degrees when I was about 47-48. I went on the patch about 18 months ago and have since gathered up my mental marbles (well, most of 'em, anyway). I’m 50 now and not quite ready to give up the patch.
There’s a urine test you can take (OTC) that didn’t work for me. The doctor can take blood tests (3 of them, a week apart) to establish the hormone level in your blood. That’s how they determined for sure that I was in full blown menopause.
Also, your periods should get pretty damn wiggy. Mine were goofy for a couple years and then stopped altogether rather abruptly. But everyone’s different.

It’s the only upside. It’s a pretty good one once you get all the down-sides under control. The in-between time is when you sometimes think of throwing yourself onto a snow-covered train track during rush hour. Takes care of the insanity and the hot flashes all in one swell foop. 
HEHEHEHEHEE; I’m there right now. Unfortunately no snow in the mid-west. :mad:
Don’t worry…you’ll probably still feel like shit once the snow flies. Then your options will be open again!
