MENSA Riddles - Need Help Finding Answers

I can not figure out the correct answer to these questions. Can you?
Thanks
1)Why are 1990 American dollar bills worth more than 1989 American dollar bills?
2)How could you rearrange the letters in the words “new door” to make one word? Note: There is only one correct answer.

3)Before Mount Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain on Earth?
Woulnd’t the anwser still be Mt. Everest? Because it was still the highest…right?

  1. 1990 is one more dollar than 1989. You assumed they are talking about the year in circulation.

  2. The answer is “one word”.

  3. Yes you are correct.

These are all completely obvious if you think about them correctly.

  1. Think about it this way: 1990 dollar bills are worth exactly $1 more than 1989 dollar bills.
  2. Put “one word” in quotes.
  3. You got it.

What is one thing that all wise men, regardless of their religion or politics, agreed is between heaven and earth?

“and?” (I hate puzzles that rely on ungrammatical constructions, like leaving out quotes - it’s not playing fair.)

This one isn’t correct. I can see what they want, but actually any jumble of letters works. It didn’t say it had to be a word before you made it up.

 I’m afraid I don’t follow this at all. What, pray tell, are you talking about?

Being a member of Mensa means that you are a genius with an IQ of at least 132. This enables you to meet other members who will understand what the hell you are talking about when you say, for example, “That lamppost is tawdry.”

That’s the kind of person they’re after.

Joining Mensa instills in you a courtly benevolence toward non-members who would pretend to know what you know, think what you think, and stultify what you perambulate.

– or so says Steve Martin, anyway

Of course, if you have to ask us for the answers, you’re automatically disqualified.

Could the answer to this one be “death”?

I think this is the answer they want. Though in the spirit of pedantry, I would be tempted to write “it depends if you measure from sea level or the centre of the earth.”

I won’t complain about the type of question - that deserves its own thread
